I think the last paragraph is the key one- does Cellino have enough of a relationship with the player to influence him?
Actually this could be a key indicator for what life under Cellino will be like. He is obviously a maverick, but if he can persuade a player like this to follow him despite better offers, then maybe he is the kind of maverick that inspires fierce loyalty from those around him- rather than just pissing them all off as many of us suspect might be the case.
From what I have read Massimo can be very persuasive apparently he followed Zola around until Zola finaly agreed to join Cagliari and won them promotion to serie A and now Zola is one of his friends. I think Massimo can be very persuasive so you never know who he could get to come to Leeds
Yep i agree if anything like that amount is offered i will drive him there. But if these offers are true it will be interesting to test the metal of Massimo :-)
Cellino has a reputation for selling players when they are at their highest value. I for one wouldn't fault Cellino for selling if the offer was decent as it would enable us to buy several players, if scouted and the money spent properly. There is a huge difference in selling someone with the potential to get much better, e.g. Byram, or selling someone who in all likelihood has reached his peak or has little room for improvement.
The key for me is not whether we sell McCormack but as to how we spend the money. If we simply hope to replace McCormack with Hunt or similar then it is not a good sign but if we buy youthful talent that will excite the fans.

I've pretended to support a team that's been crap for most of my life as part of a long term plan

"Newcastle made an offer for McCormack and I said no, he is happy to stay here and that made me proud."
What a load of shite. Actual, literal, physical shite.
Huddersfield Town are looking for a big striker who is also mobile - but the Examiner understands Smith does not fit the club's bill, despite rumours to the contrary.
Read that again. Huddersfield Town are looking for a big mobile striker. Smith doesn't fit that bill (presumably he's not mobile). 'Despite rumours to the contrary'. Rumours... the frickin' rumours this 'article' was created to spread.
I wouldn't worry about that website GW. At least the red-headed tabloids put creativity and imagination into their bullshit. Examiner get lost halfway through and try to squash the lie they were trying to start in the first place.

That what Ross is....a lower premiership striker at best !
True, and very few british players in the Championship players getting the opportunity to move to the upper premiership teams and those that do, don't set the world on fire. The top teams all wait until players go to these lower league teams like Derby etc, and prove themselves in the league and then take the risk. Otherwise they'll stick to their cheaper foreign alternatives or gambling on investing in hundreds of youngsters hoping that one or two make the grade.

I was just reading that report myself, and mentally rubbing my hands together!!! I should think he'll pay debts, buy back ER, and either Thorp Arch or a nearer training facility, if he can identify one. Then he'll look at players, and that's when we'll all sit up and take notice! Roll on!
