Derby v Leeds - Team/Reports/Ratings

Missing this game next Tuesday evening so it will be a nail-biting time at home for me

Redfern needs to change things & also instill some mental discipline into our players minds, drop the diamond formation & lets play to the players strengths

I know i'm not a lover of JP & i still believe he is a L1 player but i think he has to return with the hope he realises his place is in jeopardy after his stint on the bench v Wigan

Iwould Silvestri out I think at the moment his back four don't trust him that much I would also consider bringing Murphy and even maybe Norris back in as our midfield at the moment is not doing its job.

This is my third attempt at trying to write something constructive, but I'm gonna give up now because I just don't know what to write! Apart from the fact that I don't know our best team, I don't know our best formation, and I'm not looking forward to this game. I've supported this club through thick and thin for over 40 years, but I don't think I've ever been this utterly pissed off! (Sorry for swearing)

Playing berardi at right back frees our best attacking option Byram to getin the box. Tonge and cook together will control the middle leaving Adryan a free role. Mowatt on the left can drift in and del fabro because neither cooper nor Pearce instill any confidence in me. Communication should be perfect between the Italians at the back.

Byram Pearce Cooper Warnock
Bellusci
Bianchi Cook Mowatt
Adryan
Antenucci

I think having Bellusci just In front of our back four will help Pearce out by having an outlet for the ball with Bellusci being more confident with the ball at his feet and being a better passer. He can also help the defence and the midfield which I think will suit him better. Push Adryan further up field tight on the shoulder of Antenucci, giving Adryan more chance to thead a little ball through the defence to Antenucci because that's the only goals he can score.

It is clear that we missed the pace of Adryan last game but we still lack bite in the middle. Shows how little strength in depth we have. Be interesting to see how we can change things.

I think the suggestion of Byram up into midfield to provide width is worth a go.

I really think the players we have are good enough ( to beat most teams) and a major formation shift would only confound the situation, but maybe that is what is needed?

It's scary but I think we should just go 5 at the back. We have two great natural wing backs and three CB's I think would be happy in that position. We have enterprising skillfull midfielders that can pass and run with the ball. Up front we have Antenucci and Sharp who offer great options for scoring goals, given the service of course. On top of that I think we need more running off the ball and a good counter attacking stradegy.

What is the problem with that. That's playing to the players'' strengths, and a good solid formation that can hold teams.

The players seem capable but lack that competitive edge. They lack maturity. Maturity is not an age thing but a decision making thing. Our players need to grow up. Also Rudy Austin should not play football. For Leeds or any other club. And Byran should not be a wing back with 4 at the back, it leaves us to vulnerable and sketchy at the back. Should he be in midfield? Of course I am not blaming him for our recent defensive disasters.

Now we have problems in the final third. Not having enough goal attempts to make a 5 minute highlight show. To me, that's really disappointing with the players we have. That's a manager issue but I think also shows a team that lacks confidence and needs some real help, in a new player that is consistent week in, week out. Aka a new strachan. An orchestrator, (sp) a leader.

Our next two matches are away so let's sure up the back, see what they have, and hit them on the counter.

Come on Leeds... Let's see some fight!!! and some good decisive decision-making.

Get rid of the diamond. Play wing backs. Two defensive midfielders in front of three centre backs. If we can't score goals, we need to stop conceding them.

Something like that for me . 4-3-3 with austin/bianchi sitting deep. Personally id prefer anyone else instead of doukara however we seem to be pretty limited to anyone who can play alittle further wide.

Ditch the diamond, doesn't work and never has for us. Lets catch up with modern times and go with a solid yet attacking 4-2-3-1. Allow the defenders to concentrate on defending, a bit of protection in front with the 2 cen. Mids and this allows the attackers a bit of freedom.

bellusci n austin providing a bit of bite, the 3 youngsters given freedom behind sharp who has to work his arse off.

A big improvement is needed defensively as Derby smashed 4 past Brum on Boxing Day and we can't stop conceding silly goals. I was going to watch this on TV but with tickets available on the night according to the official website I've decided I must attend and give them my wholehearted backing. Redfearn needs to kick the players up the backside and tell them to show us what they can do as they have got the ability. A tough game but I believe we can get something.

I'll be travelling back to Newcastle tonight on the train so won't be able to watch it as the 'free wifi' isn't allowed to stream things. I'm looking forward to reading people's opinions/commentary on here again and thanks to all those who contribute to this.

I'm going to be at the Sunderland game, albeit as a St John Ambulance volunteer. Requested to be in with the away fans and will be wearing my scarf. Hopefully we'll get a good performance out of the team today and on the 4th!

I'm not actually sure, I've only ever been sat in the home stands. Probably somewhere at the front or to the side. There should only be 2/3 of us allocated to the away section anyway, so see anyone in green and black with a hi-viz come say hello!
