Wooton gets an extra year.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

Thoroughly deserved on recent performances especially as he is CB playing RB, maybe his time at Rotherham helped Scott.

Cellino's modus operandi has always been to reward those that do well, usually incentive laden contracts etc. Also with the loans with clauses to buy it always gives him the option to buy if the player proves himself and get rid of them if they don't. Some people don't however think our billionaire owner is a good businessman though cos he hires and fires managers willy nilly.

He's much better than Byram at RB and he's better at RB than CB. He along with Bamba have brought stability to our back four, plus Taylor is doing well.
When the ball hits the goal, it's not Shearer or Cole, it's ...... Antenucci.

LOL put whatever spin you want on it. "Firing and hiring managers" was always a question over his decision making. We can argue that. Nothing to do with being a business man. Most agree that our chairman has shown he is a shrewd business man, tax evasion aside. As someone who has hesitations over the chairman's policies and decision making, I would happily say being shrewd in the financial side of the business is one of our chairman's best qualities.weasel wrote:Cellino's modus operandi has always been to reward those that do well, usually incentive laden contracts etc. Also with the loans with clauses to buy it always gives him the option to buy if the player proves himself and get rid of them if they don't. Wootton can hold that right back spot for now. He has impressed in there and taken his opportunity, in much the same way Morison has taken his. It's there for Coyle, perhaps Berardi, to take it. We could have sold Wootton as we have ample backup in that position (or the same as the left back position anyway) but healthy competition for places is key.

Wootton has been sound without being outstanding. He's a useful addition to the squad but I imagine RB could be one of those positions Redders has marked for improvement.

Definitely but at the very least Wootton's price has been pushed up by having played well for us and not now coming towards the last year of a contract. Hopefully with a run of games for the rest of the season Wootton can keep improving and fulfill the potential he showed as a youth prospect.Shields53 wrote:Wootton has been sound without being outstanding. Think like a number of players, it's taken Wootten a fair bit of time to get in sync with the club, for whatever reasons. But with Redders and Thompson, we are seeing a revival of sorts by players like him and Murphy.

Always a bonus when the coaching team can get the best out of players. Hopefully, with time, they can do the same to some of the peripheral players like Nucci, Sharp or Sloth. I also trust them with some of the younger signings Adryan, Del Fabro etc. I think the current philosophy rewards those who put the effort in and I don't think anyone will feel as if they can't work there way in to the team.Crude wrote:Think like a number of players, it's taken Wootten a fair bit of time to get in sync with the club, for whatever reasons. Re: Wooton gets an extra year.
Just read the article on the site about Wootton's reaction; I didn't realise he still had over a year left on his contract, I just assumed it was running out in the summer and it was extended for next season! Looks like the coaches/chairman see enough potential in Wootton to make that position his for the rest of this season and next (in the promotion push?) otherwise I'd assume they wouldn't extend it, and it would give them the summer to find someone better.
As I've said, I think perhaps Coyle may be the next player to break into the first team so there is some interesting competition for that right back role! And we get the versatility that Byram can fill in at right back, or Wootton can fill in as centre back. Always like it when there is flexibility in the main squad as it gives a lot more options for picking the subs without having to worry about filling all positions.

He's not a billionaire...which is one reason he has to be careful....and firing them willy nilly shows poor judgement in the first place...

I think just a settled coaching staff after the influx of players too.
