Difficult to argue with his 8 goals in 12 games plus a few assists too this season Cjay, then there is the immense improvement in Roofe's all round game such as his relentless running off the ball, the energy he puts in chasing down defenders & his hold-up play which has been equally impressive.
We missed Roofe & Pablo when they were both out injured picking up only 10 points from 8 games during their absence
And 10 points in 6 since they returned.
A handball stole a point off Forest, a total defensive cockup got 2 points off Wigan and until the sending off we didnt look like getting more then a draw vs Bristol City.
If we ignore the Wigan c**k up and the sending off we really didnt deserve that handball goal, 9 points in 6 since they returned.
Imo while i dont want to be accused of being negative, we are very fortunate to have those 10 in 6.
So despite the return of Roofe and Pablo there is still something wrong somewhere?

If you ignore Roofe he's going to score a hat trick. Too quick, too clever to leave unmarked. You absolutely have to account for him at all times
Hows he going to score a hat trick if he is near the halfway line or out wide? If teams sit deep and narrow thats the only places he can go.
If Cbs dont track those runs then in those positions he cant do much damage and his movement wont have opened up any gaps anyway.
Its more an issue with the style of player in our style of play then Roofe himself tbf.
Think Roofe has done very well considering his own limitations.

If there is anything wrong, it is the fact that this squad probably isn't good enough to sustain a challenge over an entire season. With the exception of Douglas, it is last year's squad with a few kids and loanees thrown in. We are where we are due to a certain amount of luck, but mostly due to Bielsa's influence. But he can't make our average players good enough to dominate and steamroller teams over 46 games. I don't expect this team to get promoted; if we get anywhere near it, this season will have been a success. As I said in another thread, I'm just enjoying the ride and the feeling that we can something from every game we play. Second half of last season, I wondered where the next point was coming from. If we had a squad full of the quality Wolves had last season, or even WBA this, and we were staggering to wins or draws, then I'd agree that something was going wrong. As it is, I think we're doing fine given what our squad looks like and that a number of first teamers are out injured.

I agree 1304.
The squad will look better with Jansson, Bamford, Brown, Ayling and Beradi in it and if we could just add an experienced keeper and a CB we have a chance.
Right now we are riding our luck a little and hanging in there but if the injury crisis clears up we could and should finish in the top six.
No-one is running away with it and only WBA from the top seven have beaten us.

Nonsense, I expect him to have a great game and only give the opposition 3 penalties and us 1 red card.
I watched the whole game last night after you kindly sent me that excellent link
Have to say I haven't change my opinion on the first 60 minutes of the game
We started the game well but between the 20 to 55 minute stage of the game we allowed Bristol City back in the game, thankfully the robins were so poor they didn't have the initiative or quality to take advantage of our loose play
We didn't move the ball quick enough.
Possession surrendered far too easily.
No composure when we rarely created an opening.
We took one touch too many rather than go for the shot.
Only two shots from Roofe & Alioski in the first-half.
Never got round the back of them from the flanks.
Gave away too many free-kicks/corners away throughout the game.
Too many fancy flicks when a simple ball would be the better option.
Alioski constantly moaning, as Eddie Gray said "he could start an argument with himself"
We deserved to win the game but we weren't that good.
Thank you very much for the link is that link always available Weasel ?

It was the first time I have used that link but am hoping it will be showing the match tomorrow.
My point about the first 60 minutes wasn't that we were great just that I felt we were more likely to score than Bristol, who offered nothing. We had the 2 shots that you mentioned but like you say we lacked composure at key times but the positives were that we were almost making things happen - just a bit of composure or the ball landing at the feet of the right person. We deffo weren't playing great but it always looked like we were more capable of suddenly clicking than Bristol.
However in most of our matches we haven't been brilliant until we have scored. Stoke we scored then looked great, Derby same thing, Norwich likewise. If we'd got an early goal v Bristol then because Bristol would have had their gameplan ruined we would have likely ran rampant and dominated the game and created (and likely missed) several chances. When I was a manager I used to run a separate competition alongside the goalscoring charts which was to count how many important goals each player scored - by important goals I meant goals when the score was either level or when we were behind because I felt it was a lot harder to score at those points in matches than when you were already in front (and you had more space as the opposition couldn't simply defend). It was surprising how little effect some players had before the team had got control of the match - I think our top scorer had nearly 30 goals but only 1 or 2 were 'important' goals. I do feel that our biggest weakness in this team is that too many players don't ever really look like scoring. Oh to have a Yeboah or Hasselbaink in this team that could crack one in with venomous pace from 30 yards - very hard to defend against that.

Good point on early goals
Early important goals would probably settle us down allowing us to play fluent football with exuberance & confidence rather than making simple errors & choosing too many wrong options.
