I don't think he could - the ball was coming from left to right so it was always going away from his left foot. To hit it with his left he'd have had to take it early and due to the keeper being so far out he had no sight or very little sight of the goal if hitting with his left. He would have had to curl it around the keeper which would have been very difficult due to the angle of his run. i think if you hit it early with the left then you'd miss the target. The easier option was the one he took which was to allow the run of the ball to help him go round the keeper and but for a great tackle he would then have an empty net.

Came to his left foot first, he elected to let it run and at that point he doesn't have the speed to recover the position...

I'm not sure a goal for Paddy would send him on a 5 in 6 games type run...I think they're are much bigger issues than dumb luck in this case.

Without a doubt, put Roofe or Eddie in place of Bambi and Leeds would have scored at least another 2. Bambi is too slow and his decision making makes him look even slower.

I did think at the time as Bamford attempted to round the goalie 'are we going to witness a Allan Clarke type goal', along with Jimmy Greaves those two were the finest strikers I've seen for rounding a keeper & slotting home with comfortable ease. As for the offside decision fans i spoke to who sit in the East Stand thought Paddy was onside. I was jumping up & down like a nutcase when I thought he had finally scored, my excitement only to be denied as I looked towards the linesman, he needed that goal to boost his confidence up.

impossible to tell at the time but after watching this slowed right down frame by frame ( on 4.23 ) he may have been a fraction onside for me difficult one to judge as he was coming back . a shame really because he took it very well

I dont think playing Roofe would make any difference.

A lot of rose tinted glasses with him, their was a conversion table done back end of last season and he was very low down to, Roofe imo wasnt a particularly good finisher but he suited the style more.

Paddy actually has worked hard and looks a much better fit tactically now.

Having seen the 1v1 now.

He could have taken it early on his left foot, it would have required great technique to set it outside the keeper with very little pace on the ball and to get it to curl back in. Its not an easy chance at all, maybe if you are Leo Messi but Paddy isnt and with his confidence so low can fully understand why he didnt.

The QPR goalie deserves credit for coming out quickly and the QPR defenders to for closing down.

I think it would be harsh on Paddy to say he should have scored that, could but not should imo.
