Funny how fans react to certain circumstances!
Fans around me, those walking out of the ground & on the coach home were fuming !
A sombre journey home tbh

I'd have been one aswell '64.Unbelievable .. but this result has to be either taken for " Wake up Call " that it surely is or let's say the Nature of Championship.
No matter how Marcelo dissects it and he will ,you get punished for been outmuscled coupled with the rawness of youth.
Tactically it has to be a joy to behold Leeds United this season and last too up to a point of course but Marcelo will now have witnessed again what opposition teams are more than capable off and it us scoring in any giving fashion.
Three Central defenders is great ..however you must have them all at it all game.
Simply Leeds need a top hauncho in there with White&Cooper. One that takes all with ball in the air and out of it.
We all love Berra' and Ayling though in a back three ..I'd need a rethink? ??

As I said earlier game management, we succumbed to the long balls and throws. It s not pretty but effective and sometimes that's how you need to defend also. First half fabulous best I've seen this season, second half a s**t show. We do need another big centre back imho.
64 when your paying I think you have a right to be upset after yesterday bud.

Nowhere near the "badness" of the Derby f**k up. I still can't work out how he scored from their for the first and how do you defend that flick? Defenders can't adjust for that till it happens and then it's too late.

You are wrong. it is just some of us don't want to take a dump on the team to relieve our frustrations.1964white wrote:I give up.....no passion on here!
I would say your perceptions of the team are moulded by the atmosphere that surrounded you on the coach ride home. We are all influenced by the company we keep.
You get caught up in mass hysteria and it spills over into what you write and say. You loose all objectivity. You are on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Euphoric and overjoyed when we win. Critically when we draw, and almost depressed and frustrated when we loose.
Bielsa has said that football should bring excitement and joy to supporters... are you getting your money's worth?

Long throws are hardest things to defend as it depends where the 2nd balls land, we got away with a few half-chances Cardiff had in the first-half. Why when Cardiff had a free-kick not one defender was marking their wing-back on the left for their 2nd goal & allowed to put in a decent cross for their big man to bundle the ball into the net . By then I was worried even when the scoreline was 3-1, one Bamford was subbed the inevitable was on the cards, one long ball pumped forward, nice flick from Tomlin & both our CB's were lost at sea.
Problem is opposition coaches should watch a video of that game & gain expert knowledge on how to achieve a result v Leeds, bully us & we are like marshmellows at the back
Three & counting

I'm not dumping on Leeds, you're having a laugh
We were superb for 60 minutes & then we fell apart. I've commented on & highlighted our weaknesses/failings yesterday which was there for all to see, there is no way i can defend the way we played in 30 minutes of madness at the back, it was like Derby all over again......naive!

Been saying it all season, we are so bl**dy naive
We still have to play Millwall, Sheff Wed & Cardiff again plus any other outfit who wishes to out-muscle us at the back!

Whereas from the way you write the sky is falling... the end is nigh... and we are doomed to repeat the failures of the past.
I don't want that mindset or to see it propagated.

Oh yes it was, so similar it was alarming. So relieved there was only four minutes added-on-time in the end.
Imagine as a home fan thinking can it get any worse

Re: Leeds Utd v Cardiff City Match Thread - Bielsa messes up
We were susceptible to long balls, set pieces and throws last season while we had one of the most commanding cbs in the league in the team.
I know people have changed their opinions on Pontus Jansson but its undeniable he was as a pure defender top level and better at that sort of thing then anyone we have and that includes Ben White.
PJ was 6ft5, none of Cooper, White, Berardi or Ayling are over 6ft1 so its obvious that removing him is going to have an impact.
Also noticeable that Brentford who have been notoriously bad defensively for years have the 2nd best defence now.
We dont have a commanding cb, it is the one area Ben White falls down and it isnt Coops specialist skill either, Coops and Berardi are very low for aerial duels won conpared to other cbs.
The style protects us and has done a great job, but whenever teams can get crosses and throws into our box then we are going to struggle.
We cant change that with the players we have, we dont have that sort of cb at the club. MB threw on Struijk who is a bigger cb, he tried to fix a problem, it didnt work but at least he tried. Struijk had a bit of a mare but he has talent imo.
Id have never sold Jansson (i dont believe he cant play Bielsa ball, he plays for Brentford who are hardly a hoof ball side).
But we did, so the question is do we rectify that in January? Or do we hope that we can get away with it like we largely have for the rest of the season?
If it was me i would go out and buy a proper big bugger cb, dont know who, but someone who may not be the best ball playing cb in the world but they can do the dirty work. And then use them for games like yesterday, Millwall, etc, for games where we will face old fashioned tactics we need an old fashioned cb.

Hopefully just a blip. This team do seem to struggle to get themselves together again once we have conceded a goal caused by a defensive error. It happened often last season and I hope this hasnt shattered the confidence. Its not the result that's preying on my mind it's more the fact it's a timely reminder of what happened last year

Had we signed Ben White to play alongside Pontus or Cooper I'd have been over the moon, we should be building on our defence not dismantling it. As you say PJ has made a massive impact at Brentford as I knew he would.
I feel sorry for White, so much responsibility on such young shoulders, Ben needs an experienced commanding CB alongside him

Everyone seems to be saying we get out muscled by teams like Millwall... if you cast you mind back to the Millwall game, they won because of a dive and a dubious penalty, and the losses or draws we had early in the season were the result of sloppy pinball ping pong goals and not because we were out muscled.
But we perpetuate this myth every time a result goes against us. There have been very few games this season when any team has been able to live with us on the pitch. 30 minutes out of tens of hours... think about it.

Except we finished the better with white missing a good chance to make it 4-3 after great work from Nketiah...V Derby we fucked up royally as Cooper fell apart, yesterday there was none of that. The chip was indefensible and the third was well defended except we got beaten by an unforeseeable flick.
Comparing it with the Derby cluster f**k is erroneous. At times yesterday we looked like the team that beat Southampton 7-0.
