Our owners are pushing ffp to the limit. It seems that whatever we're anticipating on receiving from the premier league each season our owners will make available. Jack may still be tempted to stay with these owners, but if not the money would be put back in to the club and I think with that backing I would expect to do better than we did this season

Looking at Villa from the outside, it always seems to me that the weak link is Dean Smith.

What do you think of him?

The jury's probably out on Smith. I think he lost out to some of his preferred signings to those of the sporting director who just got the boot. I think that bought him time and the fact that he never went public on it and made excuses was another brownie point earner.
Tactically I think he stubbornly stuck with playing 2 wingers, neither of whom were setting the world alight, which made us lightweight and prone to leak goals. He did (finally) put that right after the restart which was the reason for us picking up points. Also of course we did lose the injured John mcginn who came back after the restart and made it possible for us to have that extra man in midfield.
Personally I'm ok with keeping Smith and see what he can do with his second season, there were signs that he was learning how to cope in the premier league.
