Re: Oh Bielsa!
Started into this today. Really enjoyable insight. Signed up for Audible and selected this along with the Moscow White Leeds History as my two free downloads. Sorry Daniel ( not sure if he comes on here?)jambla wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 6:58 pm Biesla is absolutely inspiring and is leaving a legacy. When I read about his level of dedication and meticulous detail it inspires me.
Just found that someone has made an biography on Bielsa. Available in paperback or audio book

Another one-year deal. I swear the man is always living on the edge...and bringing us along with him. When this happens it will be the most important signing we make in the preseason, but for the love of God get it done!

Re: Marcelo Bielsa
With Bielsa though the length of contract is irrelevant. He will walk out after 1 day of a 5 year contract if he isn't happy with things. Likewise him being linked with other jobs hadn't worried me in the slightest as he doesn't seem bothered at all by the size of a club or the money being offered elsewhere. He is unique and we are lucky to have him.kindestcut wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 5:38 pm Another one-year deal. I swear the man is always living on the edge...and bringing us along with him. Good points all. And for my own mental health I'd like this sorted soon.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 6:06 pm With Bielsa though the length of contract is irrelevant. I'm genuinely curious about this — how many more seasons/years do y'all think he will still be the Leeds manager for? According to Wikipedia, this might already be his longest tenure as a club manager (or pretty close to it), but he does seem to have that affection for Leeds which might keep him attached for a while longer. Thoughts?

The dream for me would be to have him carry on for as long has he wants. In reality i guess it will all depend on results, like most other managers. How long does he want it? He's 65 years young and a long way from his family that must be tough. He's humble and well respected at Leeds, he could have walked away at the end of last season with his head held high. Winning promotion was the target from the board and we did that with flying colours.visitingvillan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 6:00 pm I'm genuinely curious about this — how many more seasons/years do y'all think he will still be the Leeds manager for? One of the most gratifying things for me was hearing other fans talk about the quality of football we were playing last season. Millwall fans swooning over our style and fitness must have been tough for them.
He really has been a revelation and a inspiration that has transcended football over the last few years here at Leeds.

I feel truly privileged to have had him at our football club for two years, it has been a joy. The third is a bonus and I’m excited to see what he can do in the Premier League. Three years will be as long as he has stayed anywhere since Newells but we just seem to fit. Everyone has bought into this and Bielsa has bought into Leeds.

I think that while the challenge is there, and he is supported by the club, he’ll stay. When those things change, or he just wants to get back home, he’ll be off.visitingvillan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 6:00 pm I'm genuinely curious about this — how many more seasons/years do y'all think he will still be the Leeds manager for? But this man of honour will always have a home here in Leeds.

Re: Marcelo Bielsa
Bielsa is (as has been stated) a man of honour, he has proved it, he accepts when the team loses his part in it, never blames the team. The whole affair with Lumpard and Derby, he defused the situation right away by accepting the responsibility and apologising...even though as we all know he had NOTHING to apologise for. It was an accepted practice and goes on all the time... the danger is though a man of honour expects the same in return... the owner and management have to ensure they act accordingly... he has proved he will walk...

I notice on the introductions page you are the same age as myself although I didn't see Leeds play until I was a 9yo boy, a wonderful time to start supporting Leeds
Only regret I missed seeing John Charles play for Leeds

Re: Marcelo Bielsa
It's funny reading the initial posts on this thread and the events that have followed . In hindsight were Revie alive and going into management now we would have had the same , or even more, worries . Fields right now probably stands at around the third best manager the club has had .....like it not , around the same influence on the club as O'Leary . Only Revie and Wilco have achieved more , but Bielsa story is still being written so we will see where he ends up in club history . Maybe I had misgivings , can't remember now , but he's achieved what we wanted so far .Well done Marcelo .
