Its a tough one to stomach that. Anyone who watched the game will tell ya other than the pathetic attempted tackle by Klich in the box, why not just stand the man up when he has his back to goal, we were the better team. I don't care if the Chelski fans say they had a off day, we had a deplete team. The lads couldn't give anymore out there today, the ref bottled it with Raph imo, if all it takes is to stand still in the box on the byline and let the opposing player slide into you with a fair challenge then what's the point of the tackle anymore. I thought it was harsh but replay's may prove me wrong. It was a free hit in a sense but we whipped them hard tonight.

Well, looks like Klich has replaced Forshaw in the player who can't play at this level/we must get rid tomorrow stakes. If you look at Klich, Forshaw, Bamford, Ayling, Firpo, Cooper, Harrison etc...I think we could pick a pretty decent team made-up of players that have been written off by a section of fans.

Yes, agree, but I'm also aware that he's been out for two years with a serious injury, so that's why I'd add him to those that need culling from this squad in the summer if we're looking to progress and not sink back into the pickle in which we currently find ourselves. I'm happy with what they've achieved for us, but that was then, and this is now. Good luck to them all and best wishes, but sentimentality needs cut from the equation.

We need fresh, quality players in, and that should start with John Swift, and others in January.

I still think we'll stay up and get away with not investing last summer.

But if that happens again this summer and we fail to refresh this squad we'll be nailed on for relegation next season

We gifted the game to a poor out of form Chelsea side and got nothing.

Villa lost 1-0 to Liverpool will they be happy?

Sheffield United lost by 1 to Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Leicester, were they proud? No.

Being outplayed by a better team is ok, gifting 3 goals to them is not (and dropping 3 more points from winning position )

We threw away another game, there are no positives.

We did well and the lads made me very proud. I know what you mean about the physical side of the game, that Rudiger was looking for free kicks and penalties every time he touched the ball. Ref should've stuck with his decision, shithouse.

Just a few daft errors that could and should've been avoided have cost us a very hard earned victory.

Klich has looked done for a long time, say that as one of his original defenders (with Faaip and one or two others).

But he has been out of form for many moons going back to well into last season.

Bloke is broken imo, exhausted, henc why everything is a second to slow or a yard to far or short.

He should have been let go in the Summer as he apparently wanted, Klich is just an example of what happens when you push a player to far.

CJAY - on the back of that performance are you more disheartened about the upcoming fixtures or do now believe we may be able to get something out of them. Surely that is better than continuous despondency. We all know points win the prizes.
Belief amongst the players will be right up there after this. Psychology is a massive part of the game.
Although I am Concerned that Forshaw may have picked up a knock towards the end - he has been a revelation since he came back.
Gelhardt will get more mins without a doubt after this.

I have regularly mentioned Klich not being at the required level to play in the EPL, he just does not have the desire to overcome his technical deficiencies. Having said that the tackle was stupid but innocuous - Rudiger is a clever git in those situations.

I haven’t been so disappointed at the end of a game in a very long time. I really thought we were going to be hammered today. Missing so many and fearing that we would go at them and just be cut to pieces.

It couldn’t have been further from the truth. We played really well in defence and in attack. Everyone stood up to the plate. But in this league there are two absolute truths;

1. If you make stupid mistakes you will be punished to the maximum degree. Dallas and Meslier were caught out badly for their first goal. You can argue about whether Dallas should have been selected at RB.

2. Referees/VAR will favour the big teams, and especially at home. Both penalties for Chelsea were soft in the extreme but knowing this second rule should warn every player that if you give the slightest opportunity for a penalty then it will be given against you. Klich should be shot for his staggering stupidity in particular.

Otherwise I thought there were excellent performances from Forshaw, Firpo, James, Dallas, the CB’s, Roberts and Raphinha in particular. Harrison worked hard but was weak in possession. Klich is broken and is a serious liability to the team now.

Such a pity that Gelhardt wasn’t the one to secure the most unlikely of points. He has now confirmed his lethal nature in the box. - brilliant goal! It’s going to be really hard for Bielsa to keep him out now.

I hope team morale survives this loss, because it was a shocking blow to throw it away at the death. There is light and hope here. We will beat enough teams if we keep up this effort, attitude and style. Keep Klich out and keep Gelhardt in.

Erm i can appreciate we played ok today as a team and probably didnt deserve to lose so i can see why people are pleased, i can.

But does it make me think we will get something from the upcoming games? No.

I think if anything it highlights what i have already said is my biggest concern this season, out total inability to protect a lead.

That is 15 points dropped from winning positions now and Chelsea didn't even deserve it, they didnt even play well, they didn't need to we gifted them the game.

If you cant win games when you play fine what chance have you got when you dont?

So whilst i can appreciate the performance it doesnt give me much hope because ultimately it was just another load of dropped points and most worryingly it was against a team who didnt even need to play well to do it.

Had we got a point id have been thrilled, even if we had lost 3-2 but to 3 great Chelsea goals I would have been able to be positive (it does happen).

But to lose like that just summed up a larger issue and one that i deeply worry about

All sides rely on other teams to do them a favour. Liverpool will have been hoping for a Leeds win today, Man city will have been hoping for a Villa and Leeds win, Chelsea hoping for a Villa and wolves win. If we were up in third place, we'd still be relying on other teams results to hand us the title. Its the same throughout the league. Whatever position you are in, you want the teams around you to lose.

Good sides rarely do tbh, City have won it at a canter a few times. It's when we're battling near the relegation zone, when it gets more desperate.

Klich was awful prior to the penalty, we should expect a seasoned international to stand up to the plate, truth is he didn't. I did say last week, his days are numbered at ER, today was proof he is nowhere near the level he was two years ago.
