People are quoting Richard Keys to criticise Marcelo Bielsa?

We've been over the Bielsa thing every which way.

Richard Keys is a laughing stock, not just as a pundit but as a person, a vain clown who reveals a nasty streak every now and again.
I'm afraid we're a laughingstock too.

Liverpool hardly got out of second gear & they beat us 6-0, nothing stunning about their goals, they waited for us to make mistakes & capitalised on our errors.

We look like a bunch of schoolboys, headless chickens comes to mind!

All joking aside and despite the respect i do have for MB (and i really do) i am genuinely concerned.

I just dont think you can concede like we do and as easily as we do and expect to stay up.

I dont think you can play a style so reliant on 1 v 1 battles in a league where you are generally outmatched individually and expect to win matches. We are tiring as matches go on and it shows in the fact we drop more points from losing positions than most of the league and ocneded more goals 2nd half than most of the league

And i dont think having 1 style of play that everyone knows about and knows how to counter is the way to be in a relegation battle.

Bielsa has never ever experienced anything like this in his career, he has never had a relegation battle.

His faith and reliance on a style to eventually work is lovely in theory, but how long do you wait because the thing with where we are in the season is games run out.

Hodgson, Dyche even Eddie Howe they know how to scrap for points and how to do what is necessary to win those points, Bielsa doesnt and whats more he simply wont.

He is staunch in his belief that Plan A will fix it but it isnt the attitude or the style you want in a relegation battle.

Not saying he should be sacked for Big Sam but there comes a point where substance over style is needed and Bielsa wont do that but Dyche and co will to the point we could be 1-0 up vs brentford last game of the season needing the win to survive and its the 90th minute and he would still order us to attack and leave ourselves open defensively.

He really would and we know he would.

The thing is I'm not sure another manager gets a better tune out of this squad. They are what they are because of Bielsa not in spite of him. I want to have faith in him, it just seems a long way off right now.
One thing that can be done is to drop the suicidal 3-3-1-3 formation when we attack. It's often a 6 pronged attack, with 6 players therefore committed very high up the pitch, and a great void in the midfield. It doesn't matter if we start with 4-1-4-1 - the point is that Bielsa wants his teams to attack with 3-3-1-3.

Another manager for example might adopt say a 4-2-1 -3 and stick to that formation whether attacking or defending.

At this point, substance has to take precedent over style. Give me a few 1-0s and PL football, than losing 6-0 and going down with a whimper.

So how about revealing your masterplan of how Bielsa can turn this around ? Or do you just focus all your energy into reacting negatively to other people's posts ? I've never once heard you even comment about tactics, formations etc.

How about giving a positive spin/counterargument regarding the 3-3-1-3 for example, or haven't you spent any time thinking about it ?

Let's quote from one of the newspapers instead then ;

"Pep Guardiola describes himself as 'not a coach for the tackles' but he's still the king of catenaccio compared to Marcelo Bielsa.

Iconic Bielsa knows only one gear and despite conceding 54 goals this season, the worst in the Premier League, there was no chance of him changing on Wednesday night, even at Anfield.

Idealists may applaud the entertainment-first philosophy but his combination of stubbornness and naivety could end up costing Leeds their Premier League status with teams like Burnley and Newcastle showing signs of life below them.

As the Argentine famously likes to take responsibility for everything, he should have a strong word with himself before it's too late. Leeds are now only three points above the drop zone and 18th-place Burnley have two games in hand.
Yet Bielsa once again lacked the desire to be flexible and err on the side of pragmatism.Instead, he reshuffled again with Diego Llorente out of the 18 after his personal nightmare against Manchester United at the weekend.

Bielsa remained crouching in the technical area but didn't look so much like a genius any more.

For his deserved reputation as a coaching visionary, you can see why his trophy cabinet is relatively bare and why Leeds is the first club where the 66-year-old has spent four seasons.

The fans still chanted his name and he'll never lose their love after what he's done for the club but upstairs the Leeds owners – already financially strapped – won't want to lose their top-flight revenue because the coach won't adapt. "

I agree but when you think about it that in itself reflects very badly on Bielsa.

He has had a hand in building one of the weakest squads in the league, with no depth and with the ability to only play 1 style.

You criticise Bielsa daily and say I react negatively!

Keys is a contemptible moron. It seems to be the one thing all analysts agree on, from Richardson to Glendenning to even the comedians on Quickly Kevin. They openly laugh at him.

As for tactics, please. That whole fans swapping their inane and inexpert thoughts on the merits of 343 v 532 bores me. How long do you spend each day "thinking about it" and how many hours of video do you watch on each player before these tactical analyses?

It's alright saying "hold your nerve"
But, where will that get us, even if we stay up, which I still think we will, Bielsa is a control freak who simply won't alter.
Any other manager would be sacked, no question about it, are you happy we had leaked more than 50 goals thus far, do you really, honestly think that when/if KP and PB come back we will start winning again !!!!!
The whole set up is a shambles, there's no passion in the side, even Bielsa shows nothing, absolutely nothing, the players are gone, they're dead, the is unrest in that squad, they've all lost heart.
Things have to change, Bielsa has worked his magic once, he can't do it again with that squad, nothing great about liverpools goals tonight, but, the same old piss-poor marking by United, stupid mistakes, constantly giving the ball away, poor distribution from Meslier, poor passing from just about every other player, no desire, no will to win even the 3 rd ball, nothing, the tank is empty, all that is down to the manager.
The board need to be sat down tonight discussing exactly where they want to be, not just this season, but in the future as well, this is the most shocking run a long long time.

Ok - Bielsa is a genius and the best manager in the world. This season is a dream. They should double his salary for next season.

Does that suit you ?

Oh, and as regards formations - the fact that you seem pretty unaware that Bielsa's whole footballing philosophy revolves around 3-3-1-3 makes it obvious to me why you are so unquestioning and so in thrall to him. You don't really understand it - so much easier to just be a sycophant, to not do your own thinking and say ' Bielsa is never wrong, he is a genius ' which I think is pretty well what you stated in a post a few months ago.

Bielsa is unsackable as the owners are out of their depth and Bielsa is bigger than them and the club. Any other club would've changed managers long ago.

The best manager point is arguable, granted he made the last 3 of the FIFA world manager award a year ago and was even better in the first 5 months of '21. Not sure where you're getting the dream season and double his salary stuff though.

As for tactics, you failed to say how many hours a day you put into video analysis of players. Roughly.
