Centre back too ... Central Mid and a winger.

Re: Leeds Utd v Valencia CF Match Thread
Fine performance generally
Basically same setup as last season but worked today vs a Valencia side prepared to come out.
Will be interesting to see what happens vs lowblock.
Press seemed more coordinated and more width in attack which was nice.
Georgie and Joseph worked well.
Bogle injury is the worry but we knew the risks when we signed him, hopefully recovered fir next weekend.
Squad is clearly 3, 4 light

Regardless of the contempt some people show for Bamford on here, the crowd at the stadium was chanting his name... how galling that he is still held in high regard... that crowd should been silenced, don't they know they spoil the match day experience for Bamford haters.

I'm not a Paddy hater, I like him as a person. I just don't think he should be starting for us, this season or last.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:03 pm Regardless of the contempt some people show for Bamford on here, the crowd at the stadium was chanting his name... how galling that he is still held in high regard... that crowd should been silenced, don't they know they spoil the match day experience for Bamford haters.

Center back is fine
Farke last week said FB, MC. Now Summerville is gone, add a winger
If we sign a midfielder, it allows us to use Ampadu as an emergency 4th choice in defence.

I don't think suggesting Bamford should have been moved on and saying he has struggled to justify his status as the highest earner at the club for years makes someone a "hater" myself.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:03 pm Regardless of the contempt some people show for Bamford on here, the crowd at the stadium was chanting his name... how galling that he is still held in high regard... that crowd should been silenced, don't they know they spoil the match day experience for Bamford haters.
No one is attacking him as a person, that's different

Someone sings about jimmy saville and they all join in.
Sing about "Yorkshire pirlo" same thing, some fans are clueless.

Rodon, Struijk, Wober.. think we're one light. I don't like Amps in CD, we miss him too much in midfield.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:08 pm Center back is fine

Wober is better than Cooper. So Ampadu wouldn't have to drop back as often. Last season he was 3rd choice CB. Currently he's 4th behind Wober. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:14 pm Rodon, Struijk, Wober.. think we're one light. I don't like Amps in CD, we miss him too much in midfield.
I fear a 4th CB would be in the same situation as Cresswell last season. Never used. I think Debayo could play the minutes Cresswell did last season.

DF on Bogle's injury:
“I was really concerned about Jayden, we are still a bit thin at full-back,” said Farke after the 2-1 win that ended Leeds’ pre-season. “It was a dead leg, not capable to stay on but it's normal after a few days it's gone. I'm not too concerned that he'll be not available for next week, I'm cautiously optimistic.”

Re: Leeds Utd v Valencia CF Match Thread
Did a decent job at building just over half of a half decent championship team.... his 7 championship players costing
Messlier £7m
Firpo £13m
Struyjk £500k
Gnonto £5.5m
Joseph £900k
James £25m
Rutter £35m
£87m for 7 championship players - so £12.5m per championship player - think most of us on here could have bought 7 decent championship players for £87m. Of course looking solely at Orta's players on display today conveniently makes no mention of the dross he signed oh and the 1 player he bought that we sold for profit.
Rodon £10m
Ampadu £7m
Gruev £5m
Bogle £5m
By contrast Farke's 4 championship players in the starting line-up cost £27 so just a touch less than £7m per player. Interestingly we have only sold 1 Farke signing and we sold him for profit. If we sell the next 100 or so Farke signings at a loss or release them on frees then I am guessing you will start singing his praises?

But will hopefully convince our DOF's to get moving on the 2 or 3 extra squad players we needAcrossThePondAsh wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:40 pm DF on Bogle's injury:

Re: Leeds Utd v Valencia CF Match Thread
I was going to make the point that 4 of those were signed for the premier league. And theoretically, the other 3 were signed with the hope we'd be in the premier league by the time they made the first team. So, in theory and actuality, all 7 were signed for the premier league. Most (Meslier and Strujik being exceptions) never became regulars in the premier league. So they weren't good enough for the task ahead. And they should be top players in the championship. Getting overly cynical now: Full credit to Orta for signing top championship players, at PL prices, when we needed players that were ready for the PL.weasel wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:42 pm Did a decent job at building just over half of a half decent championship team.... his 7 championship players costing

A nice day out in the sun, a couple of pints with the lads with the usual friendly fare on offer (although the Valencia players hadn’t got the memo and were getting stuck in).
Rutter my MOM, with nods to Joseph and the usual suspects Rodon and Ampadu. Thought Bogle did well too, hoping the injury isn’t serious.

Just seen the highlights, mate. I'll watch the full replay tomorrow.
How good was that, we appear very strong & dominant.
Georginio took the p*ss out of the Valencia defenders.
What a goal from Mateo
Was the cause of Bogle's injury when he was fouled off the ball?

Re: Leeds Utd v Valencia CF Match Thread
A lovely afternoon and good to be back.
Thought we looked pretty good first half, Joseph looks like he will be getting a lot more minutes this year - he put himself about and took his goal well. Georgie’s goal speaks for itself!
Still think we’re a couple short though unless playing some of the younger ones is in Farke’s thinking.
