Meslier has many very good attributes, if you look at Manure’s keeper situation with Onana as their first choice, who is not exactly a picture of consistency - he is as eccentric as keepers come. Then you can perhaps create an argument for having a relatively young but experienced back up who will provide stiff competition. To get the best out of any player, there has to be viable competition for their position.
I’m sure they have a few options. They may want to think again about Mes. I think the big eccentric errors are part of his DNA. Not sure they can be “coached” out. He will always be prone to a big blunder that will be exaggerated 10fold at Manure. Can you imagine him at Mould Trafford. I cant.
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

I don't think he has improved one jot since he's been here.

I think he has possibly become more complacent in his approach. Hardest position on the pitch as you have nowhere to hide. You cannot afford to not be mentally on point for the full 90 mins as it affects decision making. I believe this is his issue which compounds areas of his game that need improving.
He needs competition for the jersey.

I think Mes see’s himself as a No1 given comments he has made in the past. He needs a rocket and a rude awakening for me. He should not be making such assumptions at his age and with his experience. Not a full international and inconsistent - that is not the bar to consider yourself as having made the grade.

The experience line was nonsense.

All the players playing were mid to late 20s

Marcos Abad until last summer

His main qualification was he was mates with Victor Orta.

Ed Wooten now isn't it? Ex Norwich so mates with Farke?

What's Nigel Martyn doing these days? If we are going to stick with him, which for reasons beyond my comprehension I think we will, then he would be a good option to help Meslier to get his act together.

The guy who was GK coach while Bielsa was here. Meslier was good for his first couple of seasons.

You can't ignore that he was really good in our first premier league season. His performances didn't really drop until we started getting trounced towards the end of Bielsa's time.

I don't think he was "moaning" about experience. He said if he makes signings, they will just be younger signings. So he's not seeking out more experience at all.

I forgot that he was not a Bielsa-ite. He stuck around a while after Bielsa left. But he certainly can be credited with raising Meslier's game for a couple of seasons. But (to my memory) he was also here for a good period after Meslier's drop off began.

It would be hard to credit Abad because there was no visible improvement at the start of Messlier's time here. So for all we know Messlier came here at a level, carried on at that level but then started to get worse as the training differed to what he already knew or already had learnt.

I think as well that Messlier got the benefit that a lot of fans saw anyone as better than Kiko. I recall being disappointed with Messlier's performance in the Cardiff match which was the first one back after the pandemic relented and football restarted. At the time though he was judged as a young keeper with potential etc so things like that were forgiven.

However for me has yet to improve, the occasional great save but at no point has he looked like a keeper that was better than average. It has always been that he has been judged on his potential because of his age but he has played a lot of games and not made any significant improvement.

For me his only real strength is his relative comfort at getting the ball and passing it - harder than it looks for keepers as evidence by Fraser Forster. It is a key strength in how Farke likes us to play but it is not such a significant strength to justify him retaining his place. I would expect Darlow and Cairns to be steadier and make the routine saves even if they don't kick as well.

Apparently so.

Not sure he's qualified either.

None league player who was a youth goalie at Norwich till Farke promoted him.

Personally I think goalie is a specialist position and only other goalies of a similar level or better should be advising.

Also why did Farke not make changes till the 91st minute?

Was clear quire a few players were gassed but he still did nothing.

So odd.

Usually 70th minute but the one game you want him to act he stands hands in his pockets.

I don't know why he didn't do his usual winger flip.

My best guess is that he saw the schedule with a bit of a break coming up and so figured he could run his starters into the ground,

It did bother me that he didn't make defensive substitutions at 3-1 up. What bothered me even more was that he had Joseph and Guilavogui ready at 3-2. Then it was 3-3 and he made the same changes he was about to make at 3-2. How do you make the same subs when it's tied that you were about to make when you were winning?
