Match Thread Leeds v Monaco (Friendly) Match Thread.

Post by 1964white »

Leeds duo Stuart Dallas (leg) and Tyler Adams (thigh) remain sidelined with injuries.

Wales international Ethan Ampadu became the Whites' first signing of the summer earlier this week, joining from Chelsea on a permanent deal, and the versatile midfielder will be in contention to feature on Saturday.

Farke used 21 different players in the friendly loss to Man United, and he is expected to rotate his side again throughout the contest with Monaco to ensure that as many players as possible get valuable minutes under their belt.

As for Monaco, they have also made just the one signing so far this summer, recruiting goalkeeper Philipp Kohn from Red Bull Salzburg, while Jean Marcelin, Arthur Zagre and Jean Lucas have all left the club permanently, the latter of whom joined Santos last weekend.

Centre-back Axel Disasi and midfielder Youssouf Fofana have both been linked with a possible move to the Premier League this summer, but both players remain with Hutter's squad for now and are in contention to feature against Leeds.

Breel Embolo, who scored twice against Leeds in the aforementioned 4-2 friendly win last year, is set to push captain Wissam Ben Yedder for a start in attack, while both Volland and Minamino will also be hoping to start after scoring in midweek.

Which team will Farke start with tomorrow?

No doubt he'll give every squad player available a run-out, probably a different XI in the second-half

Based on the quality of the opposition, I think we'll see the strongest side available. A few have only just returned to training and probably won't start. And I think those that are headed for the door won't start either.

I expect to see a better idea of what we're going to be watching this season.

We're too close to the first game now and if he's been with them everyday and had them all in for a chat he should've have cleared the air with who's staying to fight and who's not.

So with all that in mind, he's got to be looking to start his strongest 11 and some who are pushing to start ready to come on, i wouldn't be looking to just give run outs and switching and swapping all over the shop thus learning nowt, he's got to have some idea now of his formation and strengths and weakness's of these players.

I'm presuming he'll have sussed that these fckers can't defend and that attack is the best way for our lot to go.

I wanna see a clear 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1 or whatever he chooses to go with, i want to see certain individuals that clearly know their role in said system.

The worse thing we could see is no 'team' performance whatsoever and these lot still looking like 'chicken bart theds' with all scratching their collective heads thinking 'it's your ball not my ball'

They've got to gel pretty rapid and get to grips with their role with other players around them and their role in what DF expects of them.

Scary times and it could tell us a lot this game, i hope he keeps it well settled (the team that is) until around the 60th min then only makes subtle changes coz he's still unsure who the best left winger etc is.

I'm thinking his first 11 selection should tell us a lot of who he expects to be working with come Cardiff.

I'm hoping to see 4-1-4-1 myself with this new guy in KP's role.

Be v interesting to see who's up front and how many to say the least.

One would assume this line up will be as close as we can get to the Cardiff starting line up

Might as well pick players that are still here if they haven't left yet

Meslier
Drameh
Cresswell
Woeber
Hjelde
Ampadu
Gray
Shackleton
Gnonto
Rutter
Sinisterra

Midfield looking the weakest area there and GK. We need an experienced GK and a playmaker more than anything. Adams staying significantly strengths that area already.

Heavy rain predicted in York, fans attending the game will get absolutely soaked as car parking is two miles from the new stadium. As long as they have good drainage system the game may still be on, it's a nice playing surface.

Could be a while before Adams is fit to play though, no pre-season training yet!

I'm hoping Joseph starts up front, impressed in our friendlies vs scum & the tykes, I want to see more of him against a very good Monaco team.

You can park right next to the stadium Leon, I did it for York v Boreham Wood with a neighbour. Also, you can do the Park and Ride.

You’re right though, I’m just down the road and it is piddling it down.
