Match Thread Leeds Utd v Plymouth Argyle Match Thread

Post by Ellandback1 »

Leeds Utd v Plymouth Argyle
2nd November 3:00pm | Elland Road

Leeds return to action on Saturday afternoon, aiming to climb into the top two automatic places, but face a Wayne Rooney side who would like nothing more than to upset the form guide

Despite being held to a goalless draw just time out at Bristol City, the Whites are unbeaten in seven games, and are second in the form guide, only to leaders Sunderland. The Pilgrims have been awful on the road this season, picking up just one point from a possible eighteen away from home, conceding thirteen, and scoring just once.

Largie Ramazani (ankle ligament), Ethan Ampadu (knee) and Ilea Gruev (recovering from meniscus surgery) are all ruled out medium to long term for Leeds whilst Max Wober returned to training on Tuesday, and should be back after the International Break.

Jaidon Bogle will sit the game out after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Ashton Gate last weekend, with versatile utility player Sam Byram likely to fill in. The 31yo will switch flanks, as Daniel Farke welcomes back Junior Firpo to his line-up.

There are question marks over the fitness of Joffy Gelhardt( hip), Dan James (hamstring) and Patrick Bamford (adductor), leaving Daniel Farke short on attacking wide options. Manor Solomon looks set for more minutes, albeit from the bench after a tentative return from injury. Despite this, Farke has the luxury of choosing between Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph to lead the line.

The visitors will be without inspirational skipper Joe Edwards for the rest of the year after picking up a hamstring injury during their 3-3 draw last time out. Fellow defender Lewis Gibson (thigh) and Winger Ibrahim Cissoko (suspended also miss out. Darko Gyabi is not eligible to play against his parent club

Really hope Solomon, Wober and James don't go off on International duty. I wonder if the club can stop them.

It’s all getting a bit silly if James & Solomon go on international duty. James clearly not 100% the other day.

Wober got injured whilst on International Duty after just coming back from injury. Could the club stop them from going though?

No but in this instance I might question a player who doesn’t rule himself out. Leeds Utd are his employer after all. Obviously I understand his desire to represent his country but it would be bizarre for James to go.

True but it's unlikely Wober would declare himself fit enough to go.

James & Solomon have both recently started matches so can hardly declare themselves unfit but could negotiate with their respective international managers requesting to stay back and work on their fitness.

And Wober's return to training a week and a half before the International break......

So DJ has potentially 5 games in about in 17 days by my reckoning. That’ll test his fitness.
And 8 in total by the end of November.

Rodon too. There's speculation he's been carrying an injury since pre-season which may actually make sense...

Not looking good for the pilgrims on Saturday ---- SEVEN players not available.

Injured ---- Edwards, Galloway, Gibson, Hazard, Tijani.

Still out because of his straight red ---- Cissoko.

Unable to play against his home club ---- Gyabi.

Presumably some of them would be in the starting eleven too.

Edwards, Gibson, Cissoko & Gyabi all regular starters

Gallioway & Hazard started in Plymouth's opening 3 or 4 games, injured since.
