Jean-Matteo Bahoya

Post by YorkshireSquare »

Leeds United are exploring a deadline-day move for Jean-Matteo Bahoya. Negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt are ongoing with the Premier League club keen to find a resolution before 11pm tonight.

Meanwhile, Wilfried Gnonto is awaiting a verdict in Italy on his proposed move to Fiorentina. The window in Italy closes at 7pm. United sources have stressed his exit will not be sanctioned unless a replacement is guaranteed at Elland Road.

Bahoya was the subject of transfer interest from Hull City earlier in this window, but he declined to proceed with a move to the top-flight newcomers.

Looks good on paper & if Farke has sanctioned it & gives him more playing time than Gnonto then another piece of good business.

He's registered the 7th highest top speed by a footballer ever.

For context Dan James doesn't make the top 30

Let's hope he does a bit better than the last triple named Frenchman called Jean.

About to say this is a similar deal to the one Orta/Rads et al got heavily condemned for. JKA being a very highly rated young player as is Bohoya. Christ even Messi called JKA one of the hottest prospects in europe..

I recall this board proudly claiming this board would never make a deal like that.... well sounds like we just did

For the record I never criticized the JKA signing at any time

That’s a really gloomy view of the world. This seems a very different situation given Jka was a January panic buy.

Of course it is for you as it fits your agenda. Last day of the window in the summer would also suggest panic buy. Again I have no problem with either signing. But they're the same

Neither do I so we agree, same type of signing assuming we do have an obligation to buy.

Huge difference signing JKA as he was a player that had fallen away from his intitial potential. Basically like buying a Ferrari that had been in a crash and hoping everything was still in great working order.

So far JMB's career appears to be on a steady rise. Yes the obligation to buy might come back and bite us if he fails to perform but am guessing it is just a way to defer payment for a while so we can get to the end of the season and see whether we officially buy him this season or next.

i think we have to rely on farke and the scouts in making a judgement on bahoya. gnonto has flattered to deceive and farke clearly has doubts so this looks a good move. if we can just sneak a striker in before the deadline, it will be an almost a perfect window.

Interesting that with his club being EIntracht Franfurtt that we may have held exploratory talks with them when we signed Zetterer from them. Even if just a heads up if other clubs put bids in that EF were going to accept.

Likely though that with us having had satisfactory negotiations in regard to signing Zetterer that it made it easier for us to come to a deal with them quickly.

All hypothetical but does seem that with us being able to swoop in that we have a good relationship with them.

Can see the similarities tbf.

Difference is JKA was on the slide (hence joining a Championship club) and the data which we know we use backed that up.

This lad whilst still very young, perhaps not the full package has really good data in kry areas.

Dribbling, creating chances, progression, all things we desperately lack.

What he may lack is consistency (which unfortunately we don't lack).

But whilst any obligation is a risk this is atleast a player seemingly on the rise.
