Raich Carter was Leeds United manager from 1953 to 1958. A former England international and prolific goalscorer, Carter guided Leeds to promotion from the Second Division in 1956. He was known for his tactical acumen and strict standards. Although unable to keep the club in the top flight, his contributions were respected, and his leadership helped lay foundations for the club's post-war development.
