West Bromwich Albion proved to be a stubborn roadblock for the Whites, as they battled back to secure a 1-1 draw at Elland Road, ending their five-game winning streak in the Championship. While Leeds remain at the summit, eight points clear of third placed Burnley (who face a tricky trip to Cardiff on Tuesday night) the Baggies demonstrated resilience and extended their own unique record as the Championship's draw specialists.

The match sprung to life on just six minutes. With Firpo out of position, the visitors were given free licence to attack down their right channel. Price's speculative cross found Swift unmarked on the edge of the area, but with Meslier rooted to the spot, dragged his effort just wide of the target. Two minutes later though, Firpo more than made amends.

Daniel James whipped in a dangerous cross from the left, and Junior Firpo rose expertly at the near post to head home, marking his third goal of the season and continued his scoring streak after netting in the previous match against Sheffield United. However, as the half wore on, Leeds released their stranglehold on the game.

The Baggies capitalised just before the break when Pascal Struijk gave away a needless free kick. Swift, this time delivering from a free-kick, floated a deep ball into the box. Darnell Furlong, showing impressive aerial prowess, met the cross and looped a perfectly angled header back across goal, leaving Meslier stranded and finding the inside of the post.

The second half saw both teams push for a winner. Furlong almost grabbed a second with an acrobatic header that went just over, while Tom Fellows had a late chance for Albion thwarted by a strong challenge. Leeds responded with their own near misses, as substitute Mateo Joseph rattled the crossbar and James went close with an effort of his own. Despite the late pressure, neither side could break the deadlock.

While Leeds might have hoped for more at home, a draw is far from a disaster. Their impressive 17-match unbeaten run remains intact, their goal difference is a healthy +50, and they still sit atop the Championship table. They may reflect on an "off day" for too many players, but ultimately, a point against a resolute West Brom side keeps their promotion ambitions firmly on track.
