Hopefully just to keep him fresh, we stay in the game and he comes on with 20-30 left and runs at them.

Trouble is Warnock's record in the prem is abysmal and he is more of a promotion expert in the championship rather than avoiding relegation which is something Sam has become known for. Like you I don't like the trying not to lose mantra but can see the logic in not making it easy for the opposiiton to score and then hoping to nick a goal, probably why Greenwood has got the nod because our best chance to score ight be from a set piece. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 10:39 am He should listen to Warnock about how to fight relegation battles, Alladyce is making the classic mistakes and it just makes it much harder for us

Re: Leeds Utd v Newcastle Utd Match Thread
I will nail my colours to the mast now rather than believing the line up might be genius.
Bamford and Rodrigo have never worked. No Gnonto - if he is injured fair enough, if he is fit and on the bench then he should be on the pitch, I would play him at wingback instead of Firpo.
I think this is a lineup placing all the hopes on the set piece. Newcastle are very strong defending the set piece.
Hope I am wrong but I am confused with the lineup.

Re: Leeds Utd v Newcastle Utd Match Thread
Am guessing formation wise something along the lines of 532 / 541. Wober, RK and Koch as the back 3 with Firpo and Ayling giving us the width. Harrison, Greenwood and McKennie as a midfield 3 with presumably Harrison and WM allowed to go wide at times although likely 1 at a time and only when we attack. Rodrigo tucked in behind Bamford as a 10 but possibly having to defend as a winger if we lose possession (with Harrison doing likewise) and PB up top - so a sort of flexible 532/541 when defending and 343/352 when attacking.

Problem is we start from a completely different position. I know we have the players to cause Newcastle a s**t load of problems. Alladyce is letting Newcastle play it their way, praying for a shed load of luck... It could happen, anything is possible, but we're lowering our own chances. My theory is give yourself the best possible chance of getting a resultweasel wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 11:20 am Trouble is Warnock's record in the prem is abysmal and he is more of a promotion expert in the championship rather than avoiding relegation which is something Sam has become known for. That's the tactic though, soak up the pressure and hope Newcastle make the mistakes. You don't need an out ball for that
