Make of that what you will.

Obviously our side should be much stronger going into september - I hope :)
Even with all the absentees, the squad Andrew has posted up above your post is much stronger than what Cardiff have to offer.

The great worry for me is, if we start doing OK, will the 49ers take their foot off the ball and not bother backing the boss !!

I've got my gripes about lack of players coming in and lack of money coming in from players leaving. But I do think we've got better players than most teams in the championship. On paper, including the injured players, we've got plenty of quality

The worrying part is a} we probably haven't seen the end of players heading out and b} we're lacking depth in a few areas.

So, we've got more than enough to beat Cardiff. But not enough for a full season against some better teams. We can't pin our whole campaign on Archie Gray in midfield and Leo Hjelde at left back. We need a bit more. And this weekend shows us desperately light up front. There obviously needs to be 2 or 3 more incomings.

I hate it when the forum decides the game is already won, those are the games we lose and of course the forum goes into meltdown. Cardiff can beat us make no mistake

totally agree it will give them the excuse not to bother not that they have done anything like what is required anyway certainly on squad depth and quality
the flip side is if we struggle which I suspect they will be no excuses but by then it could be too late can't wait till January for them to do it when it should have been done now if they want a quick return to the premier League then they need to do it now if no action is taken whatsoever then the fans will soon know that they are getting the same empty promises we have had for years

I think that the Cardiff game will tell us all we need to know about the strength of our squad, they will be competitive and physical with the question being can our players cope....imo if no signings come in we are heading for a mid table finish....but hope springs eternal !

Wise words my friend!

We are heading into the unknown and nobody really knows what to expect, so cautious expectation will be the order of the day for me tomorrow.

This match will be tough, as will most matches this season - as it stands, I don’t see us being any better, on paper (let alone in reality), than a lot of other teams in this league.

Having said all that, a good solid home win will do nicely to start the new season off. Come on Leeds!

It’s a possibility MC but I don’t think this will be the case, probably the opposite will happen, it’s likely to show the niners we have the potential to move on and they will support that.

That’s my hope anyway.

On paper Summerville, Gnonto and Sinisterra and to a lesser extent Gelhardt and James should be enough to cause Cardiff plenty of problems.

But you do worry about the end product, haven't exactly been free scoring in pre season.

Ideally we get an early goal and it forces Cardiff to abandon the inevitable park the bus tactics and it gives whoever it is plays of the group a chance to use the pace they have.

They all have pace besides Gelhardt.

That could be our problem this season.

We have our new Phillips in Ampadu, but we still haven't got a Pablo in our ranks.

I said this last year : Barry Banham " from wednesday would have been a terrific buy for us, look at us now, in the same league and they have a fantastic playmaker, we haven't, where's our forward thinking, or are the board as daft as some of our supporters, believing we are bigger than that !!

Nothing wrong with being concerned about the fortunes of my team Ian, if I didn't "worry" or care, what sort of fan would I be !!

Pace is over rated in a lot of sports, what you need is short area burst and Joffy has that in spades

True to a point but sitting around imagining endless negative outcomes about things you can do nothing about is in my opinion probably the most unhealthy way to get through the day.

That particular worry about what the owners may or not do, based on a situation that hasn't arisen yet is a classic example of what I mean.

I just try and enjoy supporting the club I stead of stressing about stuff I can do nowt about

Now i look at this another way Faaip :duno:

'There's no fcking way on this planet after 4 years of so called preparing us for the Premier league, spending gazillions of £'s, buying 45 players from kids up to £35m players, should fcking Cardiff be anywhere near us at a packed Elland Rd"... :duno:

But yeah, i suppose there's always two ways of looking at things yes
Not dependent on Google, the www or 'stats' - Just a guy that puts his eyes to full use on the beautiful game :geek: ...That Ayling goal and "You couldn't script it  " - Dirty Leeds B@stard.
Must dash.

I don't stress about it, nor worry, more concern on my behalf, years of obscurity, then sidden promotion, then back to mediocrity, growing up on a rich diet of Revies aces was amazing, the whole place was buzzing, even the bad times were far outweighed by the good times, when we lost, we knew it wouldn't be long before we turned things around, nowadays, we have no such expectations, only to be let down time and again I suppose, thats not healthy.
When you see other teams, so called lesser teams leaping and bounding above you, you , or rather some of us, get despondent.
I know no one has a "right" to be in the top division, but, mismanagement is always our demise.
