Ayling was brilliant today - this is why he plays. We all know he makes the odd mistake but the haters will find it hard to give him the credit he deserves more often than not.

Because he knows he has to fight for his place now. He was very good today, but needs to stop falling over, as refs aren't falling for it, and it's embarrassing at his age.

It all feels a bit surreal. A fine controlled performance, good goals, clean sheet, and the strength of the squad beginning to show in a horrible venue for us.
Delighted for Rutter.
Ampadu is class.

Aside from a great away win, I'm most encouraged by the steady progression. Match by match we're steadily improving both the performances and results.

Great performance all round.
Most impressed with how defensively organised we were.
Meslier had a few routine saves and did fairly well with the aerial bombardment
Ampadu was immense in front of Rodon and Struijk who did their jobs well.
Ayling was diligent in his defensive work and got forward well at the right moments.
Byram combined well.
Ampadu and Gray did a great job mopping up any Millwall breaks.
Rutter was immense, strong, hard working, technically good when he needed.
Piroe looked much better today and took his goals well.
And Summerville and Gnonto were a threat but more importantly did their defensive duty which was vital.
Great away performance.

If some of our players could stop falling over though that'd be grand . . . . . . .

A true total team effort. Hard to find fault anywhere on the pitch.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 1:12 pm Great performance all round.

Re: Millwall v Leeds Utd Match Thread
Give him credit for his Walrus moment after he lost his balance. Cheeky header, belly block and a timely clearance played a part in getting the first goal.
We have a few players who go to ground looking for a free kick. Depends on the ref to a certain degree. But they need to adjust their natural going to ground instinct as they will get nothing more often than not nowadays.
I thought todays official did well. He wasn’t getting his cards out of his pocket unless there was an amputation.

Re: Millwall v Leeds Utd Match Thread
So nice to watch a match and not feel stressed other than the first 5 minutes and whenever meslier fancies himself as a footballer. A good controlled performance and so nice to have players on the bench who are quality at this level and could change games when we need them. The number of games in this league makes a strong squad so important. Best not get too carried away but a good positive feel about the team

A bit of a dampener on the result, Spence out for several weeks (lateral ligament damage).
