Jeez i've just been reading some garbled fcking Gobshite on Twitter (there's some shite on there i'll tell thi)
Woman reckons DF played 2 DM's ....2 DM's that couldn't have been more further apart if they were the USA womens 400m relay team from the rest
Gruev up there all over the top, taking corners, joining in attack, taking free kicks, whilst Amps dropped in at CH, Roden went right, Pascal left, forming a 3 man defence for the most part, leaving Firpo attacking and Bogle flanking and Rutter dropping deep to collect opening gaps.
No, no, no Kenneth. Gruev is a DM, he rarely goes over the halfway line, he only passes backward. Your eyes were lying to you if you saw anything different.
No, no, no Kenneth. Ampadu never drops in as CH. We play a rigid 4231 formation with no tactical flexibility.
You must stop watching the matches Kenneth and simply go with the flow. It is the only way to save your sanity. Repeat to thyself twenty two times football is all about stats apart from when they show that we should have comfortably won a match then they must be distrusted and never mentioned. Plan B must always be heralded as the greatest plan ever but whenever we deviate from Plan A we must bring out the Dannybashing stick.
Life will be far better for you now.

I've pretended to support a team that's been crap for most of my life as part of a long term plan

Farke should not be in trouble. I just don't get the anti-Farke narrative. His style of football created 20-odd goal opportunities yesterday, some of them silver lined, so he can't be doing that much wrong. Last time I looked we were in our second season in the Championship, so you've got to accept the level of players we have, and acknowledge that easy chances will be missed at this level. I watched a couple of highlight games from PL pre-seasons against CL sides; sitters were missed at that level too. I know, let's do without managers full stop, and let the armchair coaches run the teams. I just love watching Sunday League football.
Well said. Score three, hit the woodwork three times, miss other good chances. All from 'defensive' football apparently.

My only problem with Farke yesterday was the three needless substitutions all at the same time when we had got our momentum back. OK to take one of our fast wingers off, but not both, killed our game from an attacking perspective. Aaronson coming on was the only plus.

I also think Joseph was unlucky to be subbed.
I think it is just the modern way, you have loads of subs so you feel compelled to use them - and get the usual keyboard warriors kicking off if you don't use them. I much prefer the olden days with 1 sub.

Worth noting that it was Paddy's movement which created the space for Aaronson to score the equaliser.

And it was the same number 12 every week? He only played if someone got injured.
The game would go back to the slow old games of the 70's. You couldn't keep the high press, fast break stuff up for 100 minutes and a 46 game season...
3 subs was sensible, 3 from 5. Teams might find it harder to stash players and players may think twice about signing for a richer team if they know they're not likely to even get on the bench..
The way were going we could end up with the American sports (football/hockey and BBall) sub in sub out, have a rest and sub back in again

3 from 5 is probably the most sensible option. It then doesn't see you penalised too uch if you get a couple of injuries. With the amount of subs you have now you could have a player who was useless but a specialist free kick taker that you have on the bench until you get a freekick in a good area. Sub him on, let him take the free kick and then bring another sub on to replace him straight afterwards.

The game stopped around the 69 minute mark when a Portsmouth player went down injured and the ref allowed both teams a drinks break. Then our triple substitutions took place resulting in quite a prolonged rest for all the players.
No surprise to me that all our momentum and pressure evaporated after this break.
Probably should add that after our triple substitutions we had one good attack on 73 mins and after that the next 4 times we were in possession Portmouth commited professional fouls to break up the play and give themselves the opportunity to reset.

A good point and it may well have been a combination of the drinks break and the heat that played more of a part in theloss of momentum than the subbings did.

There's no doubt that taking Gnonto & James off reduced our effectiveness out wide but then Aaronson playing narrow nearly scored 2 goals and won the match for us.
Farke now had to look at striking the right balance as all three of those players made good contibutions whereas perhaps others were less influental.

Totally agree.
I had a drinks break at work the other day and afterwards I put 3 posts in backwards and laid a 100 sq mts of turf the wrong way round. I’m never having a drinks break again I can tell you.
