What's that got to do with a best Championship manager poll?
I don't think any Hull fans thought Liam Rosenior was the best manager in the league either.

What's that got to do with a best Championship manager poll?

Is taking a team from 21st to 4th with someone else's squad not proving something?

Hull would have made the play-offs had they not lost their top goalscorer Liam Delap to injury in January for three months.

Perhaps.

There’s the odd gripe about late substitutions etc, but no mate no calls for anyone else at the helm.

If Sheffield United didn't have a points deduction through no fault of the manager they'd have 2 more points and we still wouldn't be top.

But this isnt a sack Farke poll?

That's a childish answer. . . . .

If it wasn't for my bias against Parker then yes I might have put him top, especially as he's done it at more than one club. However for some reason I don't like him and he rightly got the sack at Bournemouth for stating his squad wasn't good enough to stay in the PL which proved to be wholly incorrect when his replacement Gary O'Neil kept them up.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 9:10 pm Then the answer should be Scott Parker then shouldn't it?
He's got 2 promotions out of 2 and is currently 4th.
Wilder was sacked by Boro for failing to meet expectations and Farke failed 1st season at Norwich and last season.
Imo context is important, resources, club Expectations etc.

Good question.

Maybe there is a bit of loyalty at play which is good to see but maybe the fans who actually spend their money going to games have a genuine belief that DF is the best manager in the league right now and can see past all the stats & numbers on a piece of paper.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 6:41 pm If Sheffield United didn't have a points deduction through no fault of the manager they'd have 2 more points and we still wouldn't be top.
It's all ifs and buts.
I don't rate either of these managers massively but will ask this
How is Farke a better manager than Wilder or Parker?
Wilder is above him now, actually did ok 1st season in the Prem and did a back to back promotion with arguably a far weaker squad and far less resources than Farke has had.
Parker has 2 promotions out of 2 from this league and is 4th now with as much if not more turmoil than we had last summer.
So by what criteria is Farke better than those? I strongly suspect LUFC loyalty is at play here not a genuine footballing opinion.
Which is fine.

Personally I think it's so tight between Farke, Wilder & Parker that it's not that big of a deal who's considered the best, especially as it's the players out on the pitch who'll decide who gets promoted.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 8:18 pm Maybe there is a bit of loyalty at play which is good to see but maybe the fans who actually spend their money going to games have a genuine belief that DF is the best manager in the league right now and can see past all the stats & numbers on a piece of paper.

Ahhh the old match going fans know best thing I see.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 8:18 pm Maybe there is a bit of loyalty at play which is good to see but maybe the fans who actually spend their money going to games have a genuine belief that DF is the best manager in the league right now and can see past all the stats & numbers on a piece of paper.

Last season the 3 best managers all got promoted in my opinion. It was however very close and if Farke had managed to outfox Martin in the play off final then possibly he could have laid claim to being the best in the division given our wins against Leicester & Ipswich.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 8:50 pm Ahhh the old match going fans know best thing I see.
Would imagine plenty have gone but don't now for one reason or another, they are irrelevant though.
Given atleast 2 of the votes specifically voted Farke because he is our manager and said as much I'd think the best Championship manager vote has gone out the window.
But I'm sorry for trying to stick on topic rather than changing it to another we love Daniel thread

Think it's difficult because he has been generally consistent in his time in the Championship bar his 1st season.

Farke's biggest strength is probably what we all criticise him for, namely he's dogmatic in the extreme and believes if you knock on the door often enough it will open to reveal beautiful clear blue skies. We on the other hand wish to sledgehammer the door down, leap through it with gay abandon and hang the consequences.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:10 pm Think it's difficult because he has been generally consistent in his time in the Championship bar his 1st season.
But at the same time he has failed in his primary objective in 50% of his seasons, 1st season at Norwich and last season here.
But he is a two time Championship winner which can't be discounted either.
However he has also always had cheat code players like Buendia and Krul and Pukki or Summerville and Rutter so it's hard to know how much is him and how much is the players he's got and the budget he's given.
Many things we won't dont know, could he take over a lesser team struggling mid season and turn it round significantly with limited finances and players?
But also could Rohl for example who did that or Carrick to a lesser extent cope with the added pressure here and the mildly inconvenient summer we had last year?
It's easier for us to judge Farke tactically because we watch him more obviously, and many of us have been frustrated by him and his various deficiencies and have those complaints haven't been rare let's be honest.
But then maybe that gives Carrick or Rohl or Wilder or Parker an advantage because we aren't burdened by watching them and the deficiencies they must have as well?
Parker for example I know has been accused same as Farke as being very reliant on individuals, same as Farke it's followed him for years.
Carrick has been criticised for the over playing element which leaves them open occasionally on the transition and Rohl has been criticised for being a bit kamikaze.
So I suppose it works both ways, we can't judge Carrick and co as much as Farke because we don't watch them every week.
But then Farke does get the benefit of the doubt as we've seen on the vote as well.
I don't think he is the best manager in the league, I am one who thinks he is very reliant on the individual and would struggle without it and I think his faults are very easy to see.
I don't think he is the worst because frankly are some awful managers in this league and Farke can't be awful with his record as better players isn't enough all the time as Manure found and Chelsea and so on so he must have something about him.
He seems a tiny bit more tactically aware this season and a little more flexible.
Actually ranking him is difficult, I'd go for somewhere in the top 6-10

It's more walk around the property a few times, popping back to the car and then knocking on the door once or twice, than continuous door knockingJammy 07 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:20 pm Farke's biggest strength is probably what we all criticise him for, namely he's dogmatic in the extreme and believes if you knock on the door often enough it will open to reveal beautiful clear blue skies.
