Guilavogui should have been sent on as soon as we went 1-3 up.
Maybe Ramazani or Gnonto, too

These three are in no doubt that Meslier was culpable for all three goals conceded.

Love the TSB guys. But goalkeeping experts they certainly are not.
Awful for the second. I'm unsure if he's responsible for 1 and 3. But if 3 beer drinking, radio comedians say so ....

Re: Hull City v Leeds Utd Match Thread
You could question him on all 3.
Why was he so far off his line for the 1st.
He came and didn't get to the 3rd then was off balance for the 3rd because he didn't get to the cross and was trying to get back.
But I'd say for 1 and 3 other players were also at fault as well at the very least.
I think it's easy to blame Meslier on all 3 but quite a few players didn't cover themselves in glory on 2 of the 3 and Meslier shouldn't be scapegoated for 2 of the goals or the entire result as a whole.
A number of players and Farke are culpable.
Meslier is a weakness in general whereas Sunderland, Burnley and Sheffield United have strengths in goal.
Patterson, Cooper and Trafford.
But I only really blame Meslier alone for the 2nd and have to say the whole "look how angry his teammates are" thing doesn't make me as happy as some.
Plenty of his teammates had poor games as well.
Rodon, Rothwell, Wober, Aaronson, no right to be angry as they were crap.
Piroe and James saved by the goals as well from being in the Same bracket.
Fully understand the finger pointing at Mes but he definitely isn't alone in that result.

Re: Hull City v Leeds Utd Match Thread
lol, I tend to agree, Kneejerk reaction but it's a podcast so sensationalism sells. He has to come for the first, error there is Wober and also Ampadu who as the LCB should be there, but he was off playing midfield... No way he can save the third and he'd need 20 foot arms to get to the crossandrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:18 pm Love the TSB guys. But goalkeeping experts they certainly are not.

Yup. It was a poor performance by all (including the manager). The numbers say a draw was a fair result.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:36 pm You could question him on all 3.

Re: Hull City v Leeds Utd Match Thread
Maybe Farke decided that with us being two goals to the good and the game won he should simply try to boost our goal difference like many on here have suggested he should have done in the past.
Seriously though I do feel he thought we were in the ascendancy and likely to get a 4th so wanted us to keep going with the momentum we had rather than making subs and us taking up a defensive stance for the last 20 minutes. It wasn't really like Hull looked like more likely to score than us, after we went 3-1 up, until Messlier gifted then a goal and changed the momentum.

Just did a listen to that
Some good points - some already mentioned across the forum. Notably about Meslier not really having very many saves. In the premier league he made lots of top saves. But this season I can hardly think of a save of note. At least not one that has benefitted us the points.
A bigger point discussed that I haven't heard from anyone else is that Meslier may be culpable for the number of goals we concede from corners. The point being that the goalkeeper is basically in charge of the defence in defending corners.

I think the save he made against Middlesbrough from Doak when it was 1-1 was probably the most crucial. Boro were on top at that point and that save helped us go on to win the game.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:12 am Just did a listen to that

Meslier is 6'7". He's a giant FFS! probably not far off 7ft with his arms stretched.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:12 am Just did a listen to that

He has no idea how to command his area.
Can't catch a ball.
Weak punches.
Flaps rather than dominates.
Is often caught out of position.
Rarely makes important saves.
Bullied by the opposition.
Distribution is dubious, although that has improved lately.

If he is 6` 7" and only 7ft with his arms outstretched, he must have very short arms 641964white wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 9:48 am Meslier is 6'7". He's a giant FFS! probably not far off 7ft with his arms stretched.

Yes he could if he hadn't left his line as the cross was going straight onto Rodon's head which would have been dealt with easily had that goon not intervened. By coming off his line, he was off-balance & caught out of position yet again, to save Kamara's shot. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:41 pm lol, I tend to agree, Kneejerk reaction but it's a podcast so sensationalism sells. Rodon had a poor game, but I'm not blaming Joe for that one!

Meslier's height should give him a distinct advantage over those attacking our goal, as he should be plucking the ball out of the air with considerable ease. Sadly, not the case!

Re: Hull City v Leeds Utd Match Thread
He had a poor game 64, along with too many other players. It was a really poor result, after being 3-1 ahead. He has to take the blame for that second goal, of that there is no doubt but the other 2 for me were down to really poor team play.
Farke didnt help matters with the subs when we were 3-1 ahead. He should have brought on the right players to close out the game. Having said that would they have made much of a difference anyway. It was a poor team performance and when you have a number of players well below their usual standards its very hard for any players coming into a game like that to make a big differnce.
What im looking for now is the next league game and to see us come out all guns blazingand show everyone that that last game is behind us now and we go out and put in a performance that we all know we are capable of.
The FA cup game doesnt interest me, as i hope we make a lot of changes and rest certain players. Im just wondering if Farke will now use the cup game to let the players try and make up for the last performance and not make any changes. I hope not.

Re: Hull City v Leeds Utd Match Thread
Couldn’t give two monkeys about the FA cup this season, only one priority so hope he rests as many as possible. Wouldn’t be surprised if DF keeps Mes in goals, one criticism I have of Farke is that he likes to prove himself right so will keep playing the same way, or maybe he has no faith in Darlow long term. For once I’d like to see him use our squad, take the shackles off them and just let them go all guns blazing. What are the odds on that happening??
