We have to be happy with the seven points, Cussie. we're not going to win every game.
We may have to settle for a point at Fratton Park next Sunday, Pompey are no mug side at their place.

Regarding Piroe where on the pitch were those nice touches though ?1964white wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 12:54 pm To be fair to Piroe, he had a very tidy game, some lovely touches the fewest errors out of all them. Apart from his first-half chance where he should have put his boot through the ball or even made a simple pass to the unmarked James, he didn't have a sniff in front of goal.
Joseph only had one golden moment with the run & shot that hit the bar in the 22 minutes he was on the pitch.
I thought we appeared more fluent & likely in the 15 minutes before the subs came on.
Credit to the baggies, they deserved their point.
Bartley is slow as an old carthorse and he was one of their best players.

Joseph took a heavy knock and didn't seem quite the same after that.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 12:54 pm To be fair to Piroe, he had a very tidy game, some lovely touches the fewest errors out of all them. I would think that Bogle has covered more miles than anyone else, up and down the wing, joins in the attack,John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 4:11 pm Didn't realize you were such a big fan of Union Berlin. If Aaronson faded badly last season it wasn't for us.
Agree, though, that he could probably use a rest. He has to have logged more miles than anyone in the squad.
Can't see tired legs from him.

Yes great points. People saying to rest James are forgetting his 90th minute lung bursting run against a demoralised Sheff U side to set up Piroe's third. I don't thinkJames is tired it was just one of those gams where everything seemed to bobble off him and his end product was generally poor. It happens and doesn't need over analysing. Maybe he was a bit tired for this match having played the full matches against Sheff U and Sunderland (rather than the usual 70s) but a week's rest and likley he will be firing on all cylinders. Solomon struggled to get into the game and if either of the two needed a breather I would think it is more likely to be him given how few matches he had played prior to this seson because of injuries, however again a week's rest and he is probably back tohis best.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 11:15 am Anyone not happy with 7 points from the last 3 games need their heads rattled. Maybe having beaten SU & Sunderland we got carried away and expected an easy win yesterday but we got our eyes opened to what could lie ahead.
Agree that we need to start using the squad more and rest the likes of Aaronson, James & Solomon for a start but we shouldn’t be throwing on all the bench players in one go as we seen what happened v Millwall in the cup. There could be a lot of dour, hard fought games to come before the end of the season so buckle up and enjoy the ride.
It was just a scrappy game, suited WBA more and they played the way they wanted. It is for me just a game to quickly consign to history and move on and hope we get back to controlling games.
The way I look at our block of 3 the 3 matches just played is that we probably didn't really deserve to beat Sunderland or Sheff U, draws would have probably been fair results in those. So we could easily have come out a lot worse. 7 points from the 9 has pushed us a point further in front of Sheff U and 4 more in front of Sunderland.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't with Piroe. Some fans knock him saying he doesn't have the workrate of Joseph but then want to also knock him for not having all his touches in the opposition box.
Piroe looks better when the wingers and Aaronsen are playing well. He helps create space for them and likewise thay then end up dragging defenders out of position and should be feeding Piroe. Against WBA the wingers and Aaronsen weren't as good as normal and thus Piroe looks less effective.

Piroe was still more involved vs WBA than in some of his earlier games.weasel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 11:10 am Damned if you do, damned if you don't with Piroe.
