I mentioned inept referees at the beginning of the season as well....plus injuries and internationals.

Re: Portsmouth v Leeds Utd Match Thread
We had so many players off their game yesterday but we still should've won at a canter if we'd put the chances away.
But the biggest problem affecting the whole teams performance was a number of issues that Farke could quite easily deal with because they are affecting the whole display, and the team performance throughout.
Brendan needs resting to recharge, this has been evident now for 2 weeks.
But the biggest thing is Gruev. Yesterday was when it was blatantly obvious that he alone was effecting the whole team display and he just does not connect with Tanaka at all, and that 2 if you're going to play 4-2-3-1 must click, quite simply, they don't.
I don't understand why the hell he's going with this when Rothwell/Tanaka were tearing it up together, which made the 4 in front rip it up as well.
Sidenote - Meslier was way way too slow decision making for the goal, I feel if we don't relieve pressure on Meslier it will f**k up promotion because he's pretty s**t at a lot of things, and if he sticks with Gruev there, we're up the creek without a paddle.
Those2 things will cost us and need addressing.
Mindblowing

You’d expect Piroe to take 1 of his chances. The first definitely. You’d expect any competent ref to give the pen. Maybe Firpo should score. Then their goal is a gift.
Portsmouth the better side. No they weren’t.
We were pretty average but definitely deserved a point. Fortunate win for them.
Add to the fact that neither Sheff Utd or Burnley won down there.
Their home record is good but we missed enough chances to win it. Just one of those days.
First defeat in 18 games.

We'd have won that game if Farke hadn't picked Patrick Piroe up front.

Not sure why virtually everyone is over reacting to a defeat that was bound to happen one day.

I see what you did there. Forwards miss good chances, rather unfortunate that he chooses this game to invoke conversion technique.
It is how the team reacts in the next game. I expected we would lose a game at some point so not particularly concerned by the result.
Need to beat Millwall to alleviate pressure and anxiety.

Nah ! There was nothing in it. He was entitled to go for the ball. Contact was minimal.Tom the Cat wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 9:50 am That challenge was bordering on red card let alone yellow !!
Their goal was a lesson to Mes. He needs to take better command of situations. He should have been more decisive. That initial hesitation cost him in terms of having the opportunity to get to the ball first.
But other than that he gave a solid display. It is ironic we always seem to get punished on just about every occasion we have a defensive misstep.

Portsmouth won. Portsmouth have more real chances than us. They looked dangerous every time they entered our half. If Piroe has an off day which he did we have NO ONE to replace him to change the game- it comes back to Jan transfer window
Leeds need a great summer 2026 with outgoings and incoming players
