Euro/World/International Football

The UEFA U21 Championships start Wednesday and are being held in Slovakia.

16 nations split into 4 groups of four.

Mateo Joseph will be representing Spain.

England qualified and have Archie Gray and Charlie Cresswell in the squad.

Channel 4 will be showing the matches apparently.

Good to see lots of football screened on terrestrial channels of late.

Diarra's goal.

Today's Euro U21 matches are on Channel 4 (7) which I've not heard of before but apparently it's still free to air.

England tomorrow are on the main channel.

Euro U21 Championships opening match.

Slovakia v Spain 5pm KO.

Mateo Joseph starts upfront for Spain.

These tournaments are super well scouted so hopefully our young striker can add to his value.

Following his overwhelming (sic) success at Southampton, Ivan Juric has landed the plum job of manager/head coach at Atalanta

Much more quality on show in the U21 championships than at the Club World Cup, imo; I've watched a few games from each and the CWC stuff has been pretty grim in the main.

QF's in the 21's

ENG/SPA tomorrow at 8

A lot of rubbish games on show Nick, but I fancy Juventus v Manchester city on Thurs eve. Supposed to be shown by channel 5 but I can't see it anywhere on the TV guide....

That does have the makings of a good game, swannie. I think that one might be on TNT sports, pretty sure I saw an ad to that effect.

Lyon have been relegated from ligue 1 for incurring debts over €500m.
This was under the stewardship of John Textor, who yesterday sold his shares in Crystal Palace to try and subvert UEFA's rules on co-ownership.
He may use that money to try and buy another English club, Sheffield Wednesday being suggested.
He also has a share in Belgian club RWD Molenbeek and has incurred three wrath of their fans by trying to change there name.
Beware American owners...

If you have to make a statement like this about a signing then you definitely shouldn't be doing it

[GreennWhite]

Does anyone know the facts ( 100% ) around his case. He might just be innocent

Keep an eye on the Tottenham fixtures week commencing 29th September, makes a difference as to whether we play them Saturday lunchtime or Saturday night.

Jose Mourinho has left his role as Fenerbahce boss after just over a year.

The Portuguese's departure comes two days after the Turkish club were eliminated from the Champions League play-offs by Benfica.

In a statement, Fenerbahce said Mourinho had "parted ways" with the club, before thanking the 62-year-old for his efforts.

"We wish him success in his future career," the statement added.
