We know there is a massive gulf in class between the top of the Championship and the top of the Premier League. We were never expected to complete with Arsenal, City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
But the bottom half of the Premier League is not as good as people make out, that is where there are points to be had and those are the games we need to be getting results.
100% true.
If you look at Arsenal then a signing for them doesn't cost much less than what we have spent on our entire incomings this summer.
It should be a good learning curve for some of our lads today who looked like rabbits in the headlights at times. For all Arsenal's possession though they created nothing until they got the goal - the Ggyokares chance created for them by us. On another day Struyjk's header goes in or perhaps one of Dan James's shots doesn't get blocked.
I think in general we have defended well. Arsenal created one chance from open play and that was Saka's goal. If we can raise our game in the second half we might just surprise them.

I've pretended to support a team that's been crap for most of my life as part of a long term plan

Did you post them because there's something wrong with your brain
We win the ball & then concede it cheaply as we often did in the first quarter, then just when we required a bit of composure to take in the game 1-0 at half-time, Gruev continues the trend.
Feeble defending at the corner for their first goal.

Agree totally.
So now let's change things up sooner than later and let as much of the squad as possible experience playing one of the top teams in Europe.
Share the pain you mean?
' "Football is about the people and the players,” he said. “Then there are those who will mingle in the middle: the coaches, executives and journalists. That last group represents the worst part about football" Marcelo Bielsa
Fair play for trying to be brave, but we just haven't got their class.
Piroe through no fault of his own hasn't had a sniff,
The game is more than likely lost, and if it isn't we won't win it like this now.
Go for something completely different. Take Piroe off and cram the midfield like a 4-5-1.
But for sure change it up, we weren't terrible at all, we just won't score 2 like this.
I'd say this game is over, so try and find what makes us better for when it happens again, or at least try something different to see if we get into the game second half, then at least we'll know the class shone through.

Still the goals we conceded were very poor and you won't get away with it as this level
I think we are giving arsenal too much respect, as though we shouldn’t be on the same field. I’d like to see us get into their faces this second half - nothing to lose except a drubbing, which might come anyway. Not sure Peri is covering himself with glory either.

Let's not get too carried away
We are playing one of the top 4 here maybe top 3. Of course there is going to be a gap at this early stage.
Rodon looked fine against Everton. But I do agree James should not be starting. I would be starting Harrison. He has experience with this sort of situation.
We are indeed Malcolm, but we are making very championshipy errors, conceding the ball cheaply so many times to the opposition is unacceptable.

I suppose you could put it that way.
It would make a world of difference though if we can score one, so let's maximize the chance of doing that.
Time to get some minutes in for the players we've hired and see how they respond against the best teams.

We are already playing 4-5-1. Piroe is totally isolated. We have to beat their press to get forward which we are not. Sloppy passing in a congested area is costing us possession time after time.

Yes Sub, we are fiddling about in the midfield aren't we?
