Re: Leeds United v Newcastle United Match Thread
I thought our midfield, particularly Stach and Longstaff grew into the match a bit. It's always going to be tough until Ampadu and Tanaka are back. But we started the match getting run over in midfield, and the last 15 min I thought we were holding our own.
Nmecha is doing a decent job of being a traditional target man up front. I like him in this role. But I expect we'll see changes in the last half hour.
All in all a good first half from Leeds!

It'll be our downfallWhite Riot wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:22 pm We've managed zero shots on target.
Against Arsenal we had the Struijk header on target.
Against Everton we had three shots on target, one of which was the Nmecha penalty.
So, four shots on target in 225 minutes of football. That's very concerning.

However, how do we change this to score a goal? Calvert Lewin would switch it up in the last 25.
Harrison for James (and move Gnonto on the right)?
I'd say Okafor but would rather he is fully fit.

Gruev has no pace, I made the comment earlier because he was woefully slow chasing his runner down the wing. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:26 pm Your Aunt Nora ran like Liam Brady? Sure she's your aunt not uncle?

Big difference to Arsenal and although they've had the better chances we've also been very close to creating 1 vs 1's with the gk just a bit of quality needed..... Decision making is poor from both sides..... Caveat being that I fully expected domination and it hasn't been.... Very hard to separate the champions league team vs a promoted Leeds. Just need to keep it going for the 90 mot.

AgreedCHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:28 pm James out of his depth at this level. He was worth 7m - which is what we at first nearly bought him for.
Then after being got rid of by that other club, we decided to buy him for 25m instead - bonkers. Bielsa had a weird obsession with him.

If we have another half like that and get a draw .there couldn't be any complaints.

We've had more shots, higher xG, arguably as many good spells as them

We're crying out for a playmaker that's for sure.
One of these dummy commentators talking about Longstaff being an archetypal Leeds midfielder, and mentioned Billy Bremner in the same breath.
f**k off mate.
Longstaff runs around and puts the occasional tackle it and that's all.

He doesn’t need to dive in, he reads the game better than our other midfielders.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:17 pm Gruev has had one moment - the one-two on the break with Gnonto
Defensively there's not enough bite
Contrast with the tackles that Longstaff has thrown himself into

Poor ball, after we turn it over, from James

Would Harrison really be any worse than James?
