Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but the irony of it all struck me like a brick in the face this morning.
We spend all our money on six + footers this season, put them in a FK wall, then concede a goal by someone shooting below them, beyond the shortest draught excluder in our team.
Now if that isn’t an example of the opposition employing PL thinking, then I don’t know what is.
I had to laugh.

Our defenders shouldn't have jump.

Their free-kick was too close to our box to strike the ball over our wall, that's why Samenyo hit the ball hard & low. Good luck to him if he managed to put the ball in the top corner of the net for a worldie goal.

Totally agree and as soon as Samenyo strode purposefully towards the ball it was obvious he was going for power. We really need to be smarter.

That would have been what was decided in training... so not really a player issue. If you're not going to jump then the draft excluder wouldn't be needed...

That would have been what was decided in training... so not really a player issue. If you're not going to jump then the draft excluder wouldn't be needed...

As in my previous post, common football sense tells you Samenyo wasn't going to shoot over the wall, the free-kick needed to be two-yards back from where Stach committed the foul to give the free-kick taker an opportunity to score over the wall.

We'd have been better off placing defenders on each post, rather than using a draft excluder in that situation.

Should only jump when you have a draft excluder behind you. In this case the end of the wall jumped where there was nobody behind to block the low shot. Terrible wall setup and execution.
