When he had one of the most expensive squads twice it wasn't a big factor and he performed miracles.

Now he has one of the less expensive ones and he's still performing miracles.

He should be a magician.

And yes I do think it's a weak league for the reasons explained before.
You definitely got on well yesterday.

If its a weak league then Europe is also weak.
I preferred Madrons synopsis of modern football.
Think he was spot on.

Well if the Saint keeps us up he might well be considered a magician weak league or not.

I must have missed it?

But yes I think the best sides in Europe aren't of the standard of past seasons.

Tottenham were 4th in the Champions League table!!!!

He said this below and in a sense agrees with you.

“As I said its unquantifiable, just a matter of opinion.

One thing I was thinking this afternoon whilst flicking between the 3 matches ,was how boring the games were.
There was very little individual flair. Those players have ceased to exist, or it has been trained out of them .
The whole game seems to have homogenised into every side trying to play the game the same formulaic way.
Its like 'playing football by numbers'.
I thought if gazza was playing for Wolves this afternoon he would probably be on the bench.

Might be part of the reason of a 'coming together' of teams abilities.”

Never saw that (or if I did I forgot)

I agree.

I think football is more boring now generally.

Flair players are overlooked for run about types.

Skill is overlooked for thundering into defenders types.

Passes are safer to keep the ball.

I agree entirely.

I blame Pep.

Here is Fulham's spend over the last three & a half seasons
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-fulh ... verein/931

And, yes there has been many departures, however this is how top-tier clubs operate, evolving every season they remain in the Premier League.

That's in euros.

If anything it shows how well backed DF has been as he's been given €182million in his 3 years whilst Premier League Fulham had €240.4

That won't also take into account the 60 odd million euros spent on Aaronson, Gnonto, Meslier and James for example.

Not negativity just a balance against the poor us narrative.

As I said don't like poor us narratives.
Was no balance. Balance would have been pointing out that 4 teams below us have spent more than us - you simply pointed out that 3 teams above us have supposedly spent less. Your slant was to make it look like we were simply performing badly in terms of money spent without any context that other teams are performing worse.

We aren't the richest, we aren't the poorest.

We aren't some plucky league 1 side paying peanuts either.

Incidentally Wolves probably not actually, not a lot of big money players in that squad.

We could have been if it wasn't for Farke galvanising us after the play-off final loss. Last time we lost in the championship play-off final we were relegated to League 1 the following season.

they also sold a lot of good players so the net spend isn't much over the last three years

Fulham are still in better place now than they were three years ago.

We sold three of our best players Rutter, Summerville & Gray in the summer of 2024.

This summer, Piroe, Gnonto, Tanaka, Gelhardt are all the mix to be sold & possibly others, in order for us to upgrade our squad with more quality signings.

Clubs can't afford to stand still, as they will stagnate & inevitably suffer relegation.

Troy Deeney

Anton Stach (Leeds):
I thought Leeds might falter and fall away. I think they have to be careful with these draws but he was a really good performer against Aston Villa - and that free-kick he scored against a World-Cup winning goalkeeper in Emi Martinez means he goes in my team.
