White Riot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2026 8:21 am The Euro was introduced here in Bulgaria on January 1st. I get a pension payment from the UK every month, and this got screwed up immediately, had to make umpteen phone calls and emails to get it sorted out, but all good now.

The Euro replaced the Leva, and previously a Euro was worth roughly two Levas. Since then prices have been pretty much doubled e.g. if you bought a beer for 1 Leva it now costs 1 Euro. So, we're now paying double for everything, and unsurprisingly nobody I know has had their wages increased!

One pound = 1.16 Euros, cheapest petrol is around 1.12 gbp per litre, but bear in mind that wages are much lower here than in the UK.

We dropped the mother in law off at Sofia airport last week and my Mrs went to get a Costa coffee, but decided not to when they asked for 6 Euros for a small coffee. Prior to the Euro we were paying around 3.5 Euros for a large Costa coffee in our city centre, Plovdiv.
I've seen pretrol at 1.46 so up 15p in two weeks ish....

There's good and bad comedy in every era. Back then the genius that is the Detectorists/Small Prophets would never have been considered... After Life is just genius

That an ok NTNON but they've done better..
