Ampadu aside our midfield was woeful today! Tanaka/James/Aaronson are NOT Premiership quality. Shame about Aaronson cos he gives everything but he isn't good enough for this level. Klich sorry STACH did nothing of note for me either (though he is Prem standard). Biggish rebuild needed this summer. PS: Glad with a point today...

Because Raph plays LW and has to beat out Vini Jr. and Gabriel Martinelli. Richarlison has often been first choice Striker over Endrick and Igor Thiago. The truth is the Brazilian Striker position is not strong compared to generations past.

In fairness, Aaronson was not playing in midfield today. He was playing up top next to DCL. But I understand your point Victor and I think that Aaronson's days as a starter for this club are numbered. I think James will be sold this summer. And I'm not sold on Tanaka at this level just yet. Although I do think he will be retained.

Fair point.

Outside of Neymar in his prime I suppose Brazilian attacking options aren't what they were in times past when they had Ronaldo and Romario and Rivaldo and so on

Decent player Richarlison just not someone I associate with the main Striker for Brazil

Tanaka should be retained imo.

He wasn't at his best today but he wasn't the worst player and he's put in some big performances for us this season.

His poor performance vs good performance when starting ratio Is probably heavily in the good column.

James hasn't played much football tbf and he's no wing back but even when he was fit earlier this season it wasn't working. He may fall into the not good enough for the Prem too good for Championship category? But he's just signed a big new contract on big money he won't he easy to offload.

BA plays his part at times and Farke loves him clearly but his days as a starter should be over. It's been speculated before certain players don't get as many opportunities because they are careless on the ball and Farke doesn't like it, BA loses the ball more than any player I've ever known.

Some interesting decisions to be made in the summer

Today’s lineup was a little strange - first time for that front 5 starting? But the idea that we need a “biggish rebuild” is just wrong. We have a solid base of about 15 players who can be trusted to compete at this level every week. Since December we are a solid mid-table team. Why would we ship out 5 or more players and take pot luck on the new players gelling. Sure we need 2 or 3 upgrades to enable us to move up the table, but we need to do it in a controlled way. In a big rebuild you only need to get a couple of decisions wrong and all the good work of the last 3 years is out the window. You not only impact the quality but the overall morale of the squad.

Spurs spent £124m net on a biggish rebuild last summer ….

And it is written smite not the Spurs or the Hammers, neither lift hand nor make plans to decide the fate of Spurs and West Ham.

He shall not stretch forth his hand to smite one nor the other, neither shall he anoint victory upon Tottenham nor upon the Hammers, but in perfect equanimity he hath decreed draws against both.

The judgment of relegation he leaveth wholly unto the teams themselves, that they may reap what their own labours have sown upon the land, for in his mercy the hand of Farke is stayed, and his heart impartial, that justice and all things may be fulfilled according to their deeds alone.

Verily, thus it shall come to pass.

Some interesting posts on social media this morning regarding DCLs “offside” ruling out a penalty inquest. The VAR graphic used to demonstrate an offside toe and fingers, and Real time photos showing his foot clearly behind the Spurs defender.
Now I know photos can be doctored, but why is an A I generated image used as definitive proof?
Gotta love a conspiracy theory.

The offside rule is crazy, it should be a percentage of the body not cm's which was the case with DCL.

There are other players like that. They have quality but are prone to the dark arts during games. Fernandes at United for example. They are the type of players that other fans hate, but you wouldnt mind having them in your own team, for the quality that they bring :)

I’ve seen talk of a 5cm “contingency” but I suppose that only applies to a select few.

I'll be honest I've never heard of Lienou. I presume he was bought? But great to see Chadwick on the bench.

It's interesting what opposition fans see.

The 2 players who got a mention for doing well or something notable on the Spuds forum are DCL from one poster for "bullying" The Tottenham defence and Tanaka got a few mentions with one person saying he was like Kante

Whereas on here the ratings for both are mixed.

So basically typical football fans then :) , some see what they only want to see, and others believe what they only want to believe.

If AO turns into a player of Kante`s quality we will all be happy

Well what a surprise. Seems that opinions are subjective and dependent on the individual, and not rational and objective and all encompassing.

There are very few proper forwards these days. Finding the next Pablo Hat-trick won’t be easy or cheap.
