BBC Gossip says Torino want to loan Lucas Perri. Well since he's our only goalkeeper now, I highly doubt it!

Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
Unless we get a substantial fee plus his salary paid it's not worth it. Again Farke might not be planning starting Perri at all, so a good loan fee might be the way to go... Cairns is still here I think. Ombang is very decent if very inexperienced, about the same age Meslier was when he started for us. Can take on back up duties in a pinch

Good luck to him, he saved us twice and was a more than decent performer. I hope that he screws the Scum for megabucks.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 6:46 pm Seems Darlow has chosen Man U: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... 0g61gedz7o

Class clown, great for moral. Hopefully make a good GK coach and third keeper. We do still own Perri?Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2026 5:20 pm Well, at least we have one keeper at the club….

Absolutely, I’d be surprised if we still do at the start of the season though. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 10:12 am Class clown, great for moral. Hopefully make a good GK coach and third keeper. We do still own Perri?
He’s not a bad keeper by any stretch, I just don’t see this one ending well if he stays. Expensive signing, filed under ‘it just didn’t work out’
Happens at all clubs.

Thrown under the bus by Farke unfortunately and we know he's not a keeper Daniel wanted. Gonna cost us, be surprised if we break even on Perri as England is top of the marketBarlow Boy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 10:16 am Absolutely, I’d be surprised if we still do at the start of the season though.

We don’t break even on Perri, no chance. We’ve done our money there, but it happens to all clubs. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 10:19 am Thrown under the bus by Farke unfortunately and we know he's not a keeper Daniel wanted. Got a nasty feeling he moves on cheap, and goes on to succeed elsewhere, but he ain’t going to be number 1 here now so best for all parties to part company.

Farke gave Messlier plenty of chances and ultimately Messlier was unable to show he was worth it. It got to the point where if Farke hadn't dropped him then it would have seriousy jeopardised our promotion hopes. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 10:19 am Thrown under the bus by Farke unfortunately and we know he's not a keeper Daniel wanted. Fast forward to last season and Perri had too many shaky games and ultimately if Farke persisted with him then it would have likely made relegation a much bigger possibility. Farke made the right choice and whilst Darlow was not brilliant he was a far steadier option (making the odd great save) and bringing a calmness to both our players and fans.
I don't know whether Perri has it in him to be a steady keeper who does the routine stuff well and makes the odd great save. Reminds me of Pickford, who I don't rate at all.
As a defender you want a keeper who does the routine things really well, holds onto long shots (or pushes them out of danger), takes crosses, or punches them well away, and simply doesn't make many mistakes or leave you jittery every time the ball goes near him.
The spectacular saves are nice but count for nothing if a minute later you concede a soft goal - think back to Meslier's ast match for us in which he saved a penalty then later in the game made mistakes.
You also have to think about the opposition too. If I was facing Perri I'd be thinking that at some point he'd make a mistake. I'd be trying long shots and getting the striker to follow up for nay rebounds, throwing speculative crosses in etc. You'd always be fancying your chances of scoring out of nothing even if he'd made a couple of world class saves.

Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
Ultimately better to lose a few million on the transfer deals than have him cost us our premier league status. If we'd had a better keeper than Meslier would we have been relegated a few years back? If we'd have kept Nigel Martryn in net instead of Paul Robinson would we have stayed up? If we'd kept Meslier in instead of Darlow would we have been promoted, if we'd kept Perri in instead of Darlow would we have stayed up?Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 11:56 am We don’t break even on Perri, no chance. All hypotheticals, rather than stated - as if fact in Cjay style - but ultimately the keeper position is one where we need to avoid it being a big weakness. The ultimate cost could be much larger than losing a few million selling him on the cheap.
If we start next season with Perri in net I would be worried. It would be like giving the other teams a helping hand. For me Burnley were doomed the second they let Trafford leave and didn't replace him with a keeper of equal stature. Sunderland on the other hand knew they had an okay keeper but wisely decided they needed better and bought well. West Ham had a clown in net, Areola, for most of the season. By the time they turned to a steadier, albeit less talented keeper, the damage was done. For Areola read Perri. We made the change early, they didn't.

Man U are looking at Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill, 26, who is understood to have a £5.2m release clause at Argentine side San Lorenzo. Maybe we should have a look? https://vitalfootball.co.uk/manchester- ... h-lammens/

He’s contracted, hold on to him till it suits the club - I can’t understand all this concern about foreign interest taking him away as if Leeds are helpless to prevent it happening.

Let’s say, (and yes I know it won’t happen), some club says they’ll give us £15M for him but we have to do the deal now, then he goes now for me, even if it means we are just left with Cairns and a couple of kids.
Plenty of time to get another keeper through the door.

I wouldn’t have a Paraguayan player thrown at me. Any player coming from such a cheating culture just wouldn’t fit in that dressing room.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 2:36 pm Man U are looking at Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill, 26, who is understood to have a £5.2m release clause at Argentine side San Lorenzo. Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
Much like last season a very clear focus on progression over possession with this lad
Good in the air, wins duels and tackles, good long ball accuracy
Not great on the ball.
Left footed Bijol basically from last seasons scouting report

I had to Google and do a read
Posted above
Inexperienced though in the league at the top level.
Decent International experience but last season was his 1st top league one.
