Wondered the same myself.
Especially after DF said today we have 4 vice Captains, Dcl, Bijol, Rodon and Justin.
So does that mean all of those would be picked in defence before Elvedi? Apart from DCL of course.
Strange decision for a player whose basically been a starter for 8 or so seasons if that's the case.
I'd imagine we've said he'll start. Maybe not right away because that's not Farke style but within a month to six weeks. Is he a better Bijol, is that the natural swap? Won't be Muha and we need Rodon's pace. Going to be interesting to see how it unfolds
I'm not a fan of rotating defenders, seldom works.

Nico Elvedi to Leeds United - DONE DEAL - but is subject to completion of the paperwork and the player passing his medical. So not signed, sealed and delivered. Yet
We're looking very light on left footed defenders, with only Tank and our currently injured Guds.
Makes the Elvedi recruitment strange as he's right footed, and adds to Bogle, Justin, Byram, Rodon, Bijol and Bornauw.
That's quite the imbalance, and injury, or suspension to Guds, and Tank means we're weakened on our left hand side, both attacking and defending. Gnonto is also injured.
Bear in mind that the main source of our goal concessions last season was down our left flank. So, you can bet your bottom dollar that opponents will be targeting our left.
I think it's urgent that we get a left back in who can compete with Guds and would have preferred a left footed CB to compete with Tank.
Zian Flemming just banged 2 in for Burnley getting them a 2-2 draw from 0-2 behind at home to Wet Spam!!! We have to go in for him surely? He'd come here at the drop of a hat right?

If he were to think about coming here he might wonder how many games he'd play wouldn't he? He wouldn't be ahead of DCL in the pecking order so...............
Be great to have him and DCL sharing the workload mind. Can't see them both in the side - be a case of one in and the other on the bench. IMHO
Keep The Faith MOT WAL Never mind, it'll all come out in the wash............
Piroe: to Wet Spam on loan with £15m fee if promoted. Perri: To Torino £850k loan fee + £13m option to buy. Bornauw: Medical today at Hamburg going on loan with option around £4m.

We just need to find a buyer for Ramazani now...
That’s Perri and Bornauw back here next summer then, clubs like to change things around in the summer and loans are an easy thing to just send back. whilst I think West Ham will be promoted they will renegotiate or wriggle out of any deal for Piroe.

Well as long as we can fiddle the books and somehow include that 32 million to appear tangible I am not worried about end of the season.
Looking forward to the resumption of woe and the potential desolation of Farke’s tactics by the end of September ………………but enough about the match day forum.
I am sure there will be some memorable moments on the grass.

I think that is the purpose of the new Swiss lad. He can play that position - another LB would be handy, depends what we could hope to attract as a back up. Any decent LB will want to be first choice and to find a player with the potential to unseat Guds will not be cheap.
Farke may stick with what we have rather than getting another Schmidt type - depends what they have planned during this window.

Yeah Elvedi can play anywhere accross the back line, so can JJ. As such we have 7 for the 5 positions and due to the flexibility it sort of gives us 9 players instead of 7 as out of the 7 players 4 can play full back and 5 can play centreback.
We then also have Ampadu who could drop into CB if needed. In a real emergency probably Gruev too who I believe has played full back in his career as well as Dan James and Willy Gnonto who could play full back too.
As such it probably gives us the right balance of having cover for the positions but not having too many players with no chance of playing. Last season JJ was primarily just back up yet made 21 league starts.
I think if Piroe goes we will being in another striker. And I would think we are still after another keeper.

I've pretended to support a team that's been crap for most of my life as part of a long term plan

Dropping Bijol would be very unfair on the player.
Aside from that he's got the highest ceiling of all our cbs with Tarik so that's an asset losing value whereas Elvedi has less.
No one apart from the no'2 goalkeeper to Trafford comes in to play back up in my opinion. They all sign with the aim of starting if considered good enough by the manager and that creates a healthy competition on the training ground.
This popped up on my YT feed. Neutrals perspective about our coming season. I do not pay much attention, watched the first 5 mins whilst having a coffee.

He's got to be a backup surely?
Quite why he'd agree to that no idea, money?
No clue, but an international in a WC QF team in the last couple of years of peak ability.. I doubt we've said come sit on the bench for Leeds, if we get injuries you'll be needed..
I'm not as high on Bijol as you are, decent prem CB but the least of our current three given his talents

I don't think we say that to any player tbf, hence why some get unhappy.
Yeah I'd disagree, I think he's our best pure defender
Elvedi is more of a ploddyball defender though, that's his main strength apparently.

But less progressive than Bijol.
Elvedi is suppoesed to be a very good on the ball defender, I assumed his progressiveness was a key selling point. Muha is by far and away the best defender at Leeds now, he could be world class in a year or two.

No based on last season Bijol is, then Elvedi then Rodon.
Elvedi is the most accurate passer but because he goes side to side more, possession keeper type.
Rodon though is the most progressive runner with the ball.
