We don’t look quite good enough with the ball to me, teams like Brentford and Brighton in the second half today pass the ball around much better and with more purpose than we seem capable of - under pressure we get even worse with us barely able to string a pass together. Maybe it’s just early season jitters but we can and should be better.

Re: Brighton vs Leeds United - Match Thread
Would have taken a point before the game and especially after they equalised. Thought we would rue the chances missed and so it proved but on the plus side at least we were creating chances.
Trafford good as usual - 4 matches now and he has outperformed the xg every game. Contrast that to the Ipswich keeper who cost his side any chance by gifting Liverpool 2 goals last night.
Did think the subs didn't improve us today - that said though they came on when we were under the cosh so doubtful we would have fared better leaving players on. A little disappointed that we didn't give DJ or Bohoya a run out late on - though if Nmecha takes his chance....

I think that will come as we continue to evolve. Trafford and Tarik increase our comfort on the ball and think Elvedi is probably more comfortable than Bijol. The higher you get as a team is where you have players who can do their job on the pitch but also are more and more comfortable on the ball, quicker thought process etc.WhiteRose wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:16 pm We don’t look quite good enough with the ball to me, teams like Brentford and Brighton in the second half today pass the ball around much better and with more purpose than we seem capable of - under pressure we get even worse with us barely able to string a pass together. Poor passing & conceding possession far too easily in the second-half.WhiteRose wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:16 pm We don’t look quite good enough with the ball to me, teams like Brentford and Brighton in the second half today pass the ball around much better and with more purpose than we seem capable of - under pressure we get even worse with us barely able to string a pass together. Re: Brighton vs Leeds United - Match Thread
a draw was a fair result in the end though if we had taken one of those chances when 1-0 up then it could have been a different story. however, brighton are a good team and a point on the road against them is no disgrace.
The substitutions didn't really work today with neither Aaronson or Wilson getting into the game though nmecha could have won it at the death. stach isn't at his best and bijol hasn't yet reached last season's standards. however, we have competed well in all 3 games against 3 of a number of teams who will be battling out for the slots below the top 5 but above the relegation fight. provided we keep picking up points and securing victories against the struggling teams then it should be far less nerve wracking this season.
injuries and and the form of our 2 strikers will determine whereabouts in the mini league we finish.

I think we lost a lot of momentum because of Bogle going off as he and JJ were combining well. Absolutely the right decision though (to take him off) with him being on a booking but we lost a bit of our escape route with JJ having to go to rightback and Bijol, Elvedi and Tarik then playing as defenders rather than one being the galloping overlapper (or underlapper).foxy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:35 pm a draw was a fair result in the end though if we had taken one of those chances when 1-0 up then it could have been a different story. however, brighton are a good team and a point on the road against them is no disgrace.

Decent point in the end but for goodness sake we should have been well put of sight before Farke changed the game by bringing on Bijol and the hapless Aaronson (I know I'm not allowed to say anything negative about him but my goodness, he hasn't offered anything in any of the matches so far this season, mind you to be fair, neither has Wilson!)
Lots of promise though for the season overall but our lack of a clinical striker and Farke's obsession with one or two players, will I fear, stunt our potential for a top 10 finish this season.
Cant feel too disappointed because we could have lost it in the end and were fortunate to get a point against Brentford, so all in all, 5 points from 3 (not hard, but also not easy matches on paper) is a satisfactory start to the season.
Win the next two home games though and it will be a very good start!!

Agreed re: Bahoya being unlikely. Perhaps a wishful shout from me just given his speed being such a weapon.DDB220 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:02 pm Possibly - but Farke is big on players positional duties within phases of play.
There was no chance of him coming on. Considering how many chances we created it is a perhaps a bittersweet point.
But I prefer to put into into the context of the difference from last season.
And completely agree re: context. My kids were puzzled over why I wasn’t too upset about the loss given the number of chances we had. I told them about how much we struggled against this team last year and how the match was even more difficult due to it being at their home field. It’s a wonderful point given that perspective.
And so we march on…

Re: Brighton vs Leeds United - Match Thread
Was pleased to see us better setup first half.
We looked more of a threat in open play than usual this season (without being brilliant) and should have scored atleast another one during our good periods.
Unfortunately we ended up sitting back and the goal was coming.
Draw probably fair.
Didn't think the subs helped, Aaronson and Wilson especially (one weak and poor on the ball and the other slow no threat long ball).
Nmecha was atleast a threat on occasion
Tanaka was immense,Trafford again came to our rescue a few times.
Both wing backs decent and Okafor atleast offered an outball even if it didn't really lead to anything.
Amps was poor I felt especially of everyone, and DCL couldn't finish a w**k in the words of our esteemed poster.

You're new so you can be forgiven, but if you think you're not allwed to say something negative about Aaronson on these pages you haven't been paying attention.Ytsejam wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:53 pm Decent point in the end but for goodness sake we should have been well put of sight before Farke changed the game by bringing on Bijol and the hapless Aaronson (I know I'm not allowed to say anything negative about him but my goodness, he hasn't offered anything in any of the matches so far this season, mind you to be fair, neither has Wilson!)

Don't forget this was a side without Mitoma, Geo and Minteh. Can't compare to last season

I thought the ref was poor enough second half, our fans left him in no doubt what they thought of him particularly in the last twenty minutes.

This Brighton team lost 4-3 at Chelsea after being 3 nil down.
We played well for large parts of the game.
Like other teams we have players to Gel and Farke teams generally get better as the season progresses.
This was pretty much a reverse of last weeks game at our place.
Aaronson came on after the tide had shifted I doubt anyone we had on the bench or on loan would have had the impact that some are suggesting we needed.

Stach's miss early in the second half when the keeper saved it with his leg was the big miss for me.White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 3:55 pm Should have had it won, but missed our chances.
Lucky to get a point in the end.

Already said good result. I just don't think it's comparable to last season.

I can think of 3 clear chances Stach at the beginning of the second half, Justin powerful shot straight at the keeper, if he had gone for the far post it would have been a rocket of a goal, and DCL rounding the keep only for Dunk to fall on his arse and clear the ball with his flailing legs.
On any other day we should have taken Brighton's scalp
