Just trying to figure out what happened since last game. Maybe the lads gave 120% against Newcastle and the first matches that they already felt the fatigue? Tanaka and Stach were poor today, hardly visible. We just didn’t show up. 3 full points were there to be taken before the long break. Next match is Arsenal and that could be very ugly given they were battered by Brighton and want to make things good again.

I made the point the other night that Newcastle have been shocking defensively, so that result may have flattered us.

I think prior to yesterday's match against Hull, Newcastle had conceded something like 60 shots on target in the EPL, and created around 30.

Their defensive frailty was evidenced again vs Hull, where they were hanging on for grim death in the second half, at home to a freshly promoted team.

We played well against Newcastle, but it has to be seen in the context of their defensive vulnerability, and a distinct lack of grit for the fight.

I was surprised by how poor we were today, and grateful that we managed to sneak a point.

The only positive from today is we remain unbeaten.
Palace were the better side. Three brilliant tackles saved almost certain goals.
DCL had our best chance. He should have scored but it was a very good save

Another good reason why stats can give a different reflection of a game. Our xg was higher than theirs but tackles that prevent shots from happening don't count towards xg. Cjay take note.

Well we did play Arsenal early last season, and we've got them next. So, let's see if we can improve on 0-9 in our two fixtures against them.

They absolutely strolled through those two fixtures last season.

We have a team of hard working big athletes with a few exceptions ,but no real creativity apart from Okafor and hopefully Bahoya but i think Trafford will keep us comfortably midtable.

Even Okafor lacks the composure to put in good quality crosses, but he is probably our best finisher.

Bahoya looks exciting and a real threat, so hopefully Farke will use him to good effect, rather than that tired, predictable triumvirate of BrenDan Donkey

I'm not sure tbh, we've played both Brentford and Brighton and Arsenal next. Last season we only had Arsenal in our first five games. Rest were mid table.

I sincerely hope DF puts his faith in him, cos we are really lacking a player that can sparkle, as Georginio, Jimmy, Raphinha and Pablo did.

It will give us a different dimension and could trigger a win in a scrappy match like this one today.

I think Farke wants a player that can create. Farke played Rutter when none of us really knew what we had and gave him the license to roam. Aaronsen was probably more of just finding a role for him rather than specifically seeing him as a 10. We obviously wanted Wilson last year and then of course got him this year and I think he is probably the one to be creative rather than just a pacey winger (ala Summerville, James, Soloman, Okafor etc) - but so far Wilson has struggled - but not time to write him off yet.

Not sure what we have with Bahoya. The clips suggest pacey winger rather than creative - but who knows until we see more of him.

Hopefully a bit of a wake up call today as we can't be complacent. As for Arsenal, we need to get into em from the start, physical game and unsettle the twats. We've been far too timid against tgem in the past

I have to say that the substitutions coming on today did nothing at all to improve or change matters on the pitch. If anything it made our poor display even worse.

Payless passed the ball better and, far from being knackered due to their European adventure on Thursday, they finished the match stronger than us. I thought we were second best all match.
