Lovely memories & special times, Swannie.whiteswan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2026 8:46 pm Thanks Leon....what an incredible performance and result. Amazing and emotional.....I've dedicated that to my Mum who I lost 3 years ago....she was a Wakey fan as a young lass and in her teens would walk 4.5 miles from her home in Wrenthorpe to belle Vue to watch them. She would have loved that tonight.....![]()

I remember now, we've had this conversation before. I lived in Durkar for many years, we had friends in that row of houses you describe, our kids were mates with their kids. for the life of me I can’t remember their names.

Sorry to read that mate, very sad.Prisoner37 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 7:32 am Very well done Wakey blowing the Wires away.
What a night for the Trinity fans and the Sinfield family too.
We went last night as my brother's wife died of MND so we waned to cheer for Sir Kev at the end of his remarkable achievement. Plus we got a fine display from Trinity as an added bonus. I do like Wakey's style of play.
A Yorkshire clean sweep of the Grand Finals with the York Valkyries doing Wigan over last week - Happy Days!
Glad you were there to experience that special night.

Just on a side note for OB and Kev.....the Wakey player who had the red, white and blue hair told the reporters that his mate plays for Castleford and the Cas lads wife coloured his hair, so a little help from Cas

That's right, we did have this conversation OB, but some time ago. Depending on the years, I may have known who the kids were or my older sister. Or if we're talking sixties, my mum, as she also grew up 4 doors along from what became my dad's house. When they married they bought a house almost next door to my grandparents.Orange Box wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 11:46 am I remember now, we've had this conversation before. The ten houses terrace where my they lived was a funny location as you could sort of choose if you wanted to go to Thornes High School / Cathedral High or to Kettlethorpe.

Re: Super League.
it was in the late 80s early 90s, when we moved to the Kenton Drive Estate. My kids were 2 lads and one girl, they all went to Ketty.Lumiukko wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 2:34 pm That's right, we did have this conversation OB, but some time ago. edit that: at that time they'd have been at St James Junior on Durkar Lane, that'll be where they met up..

Thank you for everyone's comments related to my sister-in-law and MND.
It is a awful disease that Sir Kev's work as put much more into public awareness. That man has made me cry more than any other!
So pleased it was such a positive night for Rugby League and particularly for Swannie.

I’m in Australia at the moment Shaun, and have been amazed about the non-existent publicity for the tournament.
I thought it would be everywhere, nothing of the sort.

Nothing here, either. I’m confused, I’ve seen a Facebook advert for a game I know is being played down the lane, but the advert says it’s in Perth. ????Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 9:32 am I’m in Australia at the moment Shaun, and have been amazed about the non-existent publicity for the tournament.
