Rant about Carragher and Kisnorbo

Post by BobHirst »

For several years now, every time I watch a Liverpool game I get really pissed off seeing Carragher leaning into/falling all over his opponent, arms around him, hands full of his opponents shirt, holding them down etc etc, and never getting called for a foul by the referee. Not to mention when he nearly castrated Nani (though Nani is a tw*t so he probably deserved it). These tactics are employed to make up for his lack of skill and pace.
Then I see the game yesterday and Kisnorbo is doing a very credible Carragher impersonation. He nearly had Tompkins shirt off his back in the first half and the referee who clearly sees it, chooses to ignore it. Then there was another incident in the second half when Kissi embraced Tomkins and pulled him to the ground, another clear penalty. I suppose that if the ref isn't going to call these 100% solid penalties, then the players will continue to foul. (can you say Stoke City!!!).
For those of us who used to watch Jack Charlton, can you imagine what he would do if someone tried to do those things to him? They would be laid out on the ground with one of big Jack's boots stuck up their ar*e!

That's true, but it was slightly more subtle than what they do to each other today. This blatant "arms around, grab the shirt" tactic at corners and free kicks ought to be penalised and then it would stop.

Maybe true but I like how very few opposition players ever directly confront Kisnorbo like you see happen with other players. I have a feeling there is a bit of fear factor.

Personally I prefer the game with a little bit of pushin' and shovin' to get the ball rather than the blatant play acting to get free kicks and penalties because your legs came in close contact with someone elses legs.

You see players receive a slight tap and roll on the ground as if they'd been shot twice in the abdomen. If it's a foul, it'll be obvious its a foul from the impact of the challenge not depending on how many rolls you can achieve whilst on the ground. It's this cheap advantage-winning tactics that have made the referees decisions harder in terms of calling fouls. Heck, it even takes 3 or 4 replays on TV with slow motion effects to determine whether it was a foul or a pathetic dive.
