Criminal really, the one man they will have been told to watch. they spent 5 minutes in our half first half, one chance, one goal.1964white wrote:What was O'Dea doing allowing Lambert so much space ?

First Pugh got totally done down the left flank & as the ball is crossed O'Dea runs away from his marker as he also loses the flight of the ball too !Shields53 wrote:

O'Dea won young Ireland player of the year

Between the penalty boxes there was only one team in it [lufc]. In front of goal at either end there was only one team in it saints]. A Larry moment of defending cost us a goal [Lambert had 1 chance I think and took it] and superb defending by Saints prevented us scoring one. An enjoyable game we could arguably have won but to do that clinical finishing and top class defending was required. Certainly more effort today and enough on show to confirm that Larry wasn't getting as much out of the players as he should. That said, Warnock's Leeds has yet to score and has 1 point from 6 - Larry couldn't have done any worse really in terms of points haul. Exciting times ahead hopefully but we still can't defend and we can't score either.

One daft moment from Oh Dear as he ran away from Lambert has cost us
0-3 if Grayson had still been in charge, that says improvement to me
Until Warnock can bring in is own players that he requires, some of our dopey defenders that Larry signed will continue to make stupid errors. Pugh had alot to answer for too, a favourite of yours i believe !
As i've said previously, next season will be totally different & i can't wait ! very encouraged with today's performance

That's just nonsense. Deal in facts. 0 : 0 and 0 : 1 are on the scoreboard. I like Pugh, not to the point of excluding him from blame though - facts is facts. Whole defence was poor for the goal.

And even you have said already they look better.
Your FACTtory is a bit odd - you could pick apart anyone's post about anything positive, but only when it suits you can you turn the logic to your own ego. come on riot, anyone's point isn't there own or is it? Im not denying your not clever or intelligent which you clearly are. I just wonder. If you wanted to turn that brain of yours on the positive scale for the fans, well who knows.
WE''RE LEEDS UNITED, WE''LL NEVER BE DEFEATED!
Paul Green was warnobs best signing.
If you disagree please send me a PM so we can get in to a fight.

There is no way we'd of got anywhere near an underserved defeat under Larry, we struggled to beat 9 or 10 men towards the end of his reign at ER
I went for a 1-1 draw today, we should have got it, infact we should have won the game with a bit of luck that totally eluded us
As i said we'd have suffered a heavy defeat a month ago as the players had stop playing for their shirt & the manager
Not the case today

Re: Vs Saints
I thought it was a very encouraging performance today. The final ball was lacking too often with heavy passes & the finishing was poor. Having said that if we play like that every game we will win a lot more than we don't. I fear it's too late for this season but its going to be fun trying.

Wow.
I came away from Elland Rd buzzing, it was brilliant. Thats entertainment !!
Forget the score. We now know the ability is there , we just needed a motivator.
Roll on Tuesday. Can't wait to go to Hull now.

Just watched the highlights again on iPlayer....this time stone cold sober...how the f**k !!!!!
Great performance....if we had've got one of those early goals...no doubt we'd have won.
Just one of those days...can't fault the committment

I'm also looking forward to the Hull game too Chester, at least we are assured the players have fire in their bellies & for once they have been working hard behind the scenesChester wrote:Wow.

Re: Vs Saints
I've had the chance to watch replay on Oz pay TV. Lots of positives, Webber for example as well as some more consistent form from a number of players.
Still crucial issues to be sorted at both ends of the pitch where games are won and lost. Despite limited attacks I thought we looked vulnerable 2 or 3 times in the 2nd half and could easily been shut completely out of the game.
Was a bit perplexed about the skipper's free role which seemed to have him on the wings for significant parts of the game - was expecting him to operate a bit more centrally off the front striker. Was v impressed with his work rate, endeavour and quality more often than not.
Am unsure about the effectiveness of White in his role - seems to lack the refinements to really finish moves off properly. Webber's contributions highlighted White's shortcomings in this regards. Obviously I'm not criticizing the lad's pace and endeavour. Could he give us a more balanced contribution at LB?
Brown certainly showed a bit.
I like what I see of Lees - potentially an EPL player?
I'm not sure why we are speculating on how we might have performed in this match under SG - as pointless as discussing how we might have done under McAllister, Wise or any number of previous managers.
I'm hoping for further improvement v Hull, but know how unpredictable players/teams can be from game to game.
Hopefully something to add to the 'goals for' column.
Cheers,
CS69

Re: Vs Saints
I didnt think we did prove we could defend today. We were far better in midfield and Becchio held the ball up far better. That limited Saints time in our half and posession. When they did get chances in the last third they worried me. Two chances, one goal.1964white wrote:

The midfield was much improved, defending from the front was great, defending at the back was still suspect.

I'm beginning to enjoy our blossoming relationship mate
Warnock's issue is the one Larry struggled with. Transition from attack to defence. Larry's teams could defend but only if they left attacking in the dressing room. That's why so many sides choose to play on the break I think. Shape is preserved and yesterday shape was lost for the goal. We did our defending by attacking yesterday. There were few Saints attacks as a result. Those that there were caused a bit of a problem. And here's another thing to chew over - under Larry we played every bit as good as we did yesterday at times - problem was we needed an external stimulus [Speed's sad death/being 2 : 0 down etc] to get us going - Forest/Donny and so on were magnificent performances, better than yesterday imo. WHU the same of course. Yesterday we did it from the first minute to the last - sometimes we haven't which is why Larry went and Warnock has arrived. Result identical mindst - zero points.
As for enthusiasm - I'm there week in week out supporting the lads at ER . I only go cos I like it so don't thank me
Beyond that I clearly need to buy you a drink at some point

Re: Vs Saints
Next season will be our year, always believed that as soon as we appointed Warnock
Warnock will now know our strengths & weaknesses being the shrewd cookie he is. I have no doubt he'll bring in the players required & make us stronger outfit at the back & going forward
With a pre-season behind us & Warnock's team just watch us go next season. I can't wait, patience is the word

So do the five magnificent Kelvin Davis saves & the ball ping-ponging off the bar in a packed penalty box area count as missed chances ?white.riot wrote:

We were unlucky WR, the Saints got away with it as they were totally outplayed by a rejuvenated Leeds team

Did we score?
Did we keep a clean sheet?
Do you get any points for hitting the bar [missing the target]?
Did Webber/Becchio etc make it easy for the goalie by shooting too close to him at times and without sufficient venom [unlike Lambert who did what a number 9 [7] is paid to do?
Did left footed White c**k up because he needed to take his chance with his right foot?
Nothing to do with luck - can't think of a single piece of bad luck yesterday.
Possession is irrelevant unless you turn it into goals - Jose [the true messiah] knows this.
The best team always wins at football - the only real exception is ball over the line stuff when a goal is given/disallowed wrongly [did any of this happen?].
Had we scored Saints would have changed their game plan and started attacking. No one [not even you mate who know's the score would have been 0 : 3 with Larry in charge] knows what might have happened then.
A good/enjoyable/entertaining game of football which we lost cos we lacked what it takes up front and at the back. Excuses are for losers.

Jason, I have no idea what you saw yesterday, but I saw a Becchio just about back at his best. He got to almost every ball put his way, it's not his fault that support wasn't available when he is heading a high ball on, he needs close support. Warnock has already been on about that, and Webber was a lot better at staying with him, and more chances came from his support. Not his fault that no-one could put a ball into the bag at the end.
