Tho I am not convinced that Paynter is any better, this season Becchio is nowhere NEAR the player we raved about last season.

Did we score?

Did we keep a clean sheet?

Do you get any points for hitting the bar [missing the target]?

Did Webber/Becchio etc make it easy for the goalie by shooting too close to him at times and without sufficient venom [unlike Lambert who did what a number 9 [7] is paid to do?

Did left footed White c**k up because he needed to take his chance with his right foot?

Nothing to do with luck - can't think of a single piece of bad luck yesterday.

Possession is irrelevant unless you turn it into goals - Jose [the true messiah] knows this.

The best team always wins at football - the only real exception is ball over the line stuff when a goal is given/disallowed wrongly [did any of this happen?].

Had we scored Saints would have changed their game plan and started attacking. No one [not even you mate who know's the score would have been 0 : 3 with Larry in charge] knows what might have happened then.

A good/enjoyable/entertaining game of football which we lost cos we lacked what it takes up front and at the back. Excuses are for losers.
Pointless debating the game with you WR due to your obvious dislike of Warnock

Grayson singularly-handed destroyed the players morale & our season but you still defend him - Unbelievable !

You are the only one i know who has this opinion about yesterday's game which was only Warnocks third game

Oh & yes Weasal & yourself appear to have omitted any credit to NW regards the Donny game where we were absolutely abysmal under our rookie stand in until our new man intervened stepped into the dressing room at half-time & was a massive influence on what was a stunning comeback

I don't dislike Warnock [I think he's a great to listen to and he's probably as good as we can get just now - the best manager's in Newham] and I desperately need him to succeed [as I did Larry and Mac and Wise]. As soon as you fall back on that kind of argument you are correct, there's no point. To suggest that my like/dislike for Warnock is more important than my love of Leeds says much more about you than me tbh. Facts - we lost - we are further adrift of the play offs than we were when your arch enemy left. There is a better feeling about the place is the massive plus.

Hull will be another stiff test, so too Boro. Warnock needs a win soon. That will require improved defending I think. No wins no good feeling - that's like night follows day.

Saints' manager admitted that we battered them... and i'm sure Adkin's 'tactic' was not to give us all the ball and let us have 3 times as many shots on goal.... we controlled the game, and it was INDIVIDUAL performance/ skill that probably let us down...

If we had Rickie Lambert and he was presented with the opportunities on goal that Danny Webber was, we probably would have won... But Rickie Lambert is TOP man in the division, and Danny Webber is an OLD man in the division (in footballing terms) that hasnt played for 6 months..

If we play like THAT against Hull and Boro, i believe we'll win... i also think if Brown had stayed on instead of Lloyd Sam coming on, although i can understand why he made the change, i reckon we might have nicked a goal... As soon as he went off, Southampton seemed to get on the ball a bit more...... He might not have done much Brown, but just the presence of that extra man hanging back and helping the defence would have made it more difficult..

But, as i say, Warnock's job now is to get them to play just like that at the KC and the Riverside.. and if we do, i reckon we'll win.... i reckon we'll win easy...

I didnt get home from a decent night out until 3am, though, and as soon as i woke in the morning i jumped up and put the HD recorder on...... so i had about 3 hours sleep and was still p!ssed...... perhaps my observations were completely wrong...

I know one thing, i didnt sit down for 90minutes watching that game... was great entertainment!

Twiggs always needs a piñata to beat. He was relentless with Howson, but now that he has gone
he needs someone else to take his stick to, and it just happens to be Becchio. He will not remove
the blindfold and he will beat Becchio like he did Howson. It does get tiresome.

That was exactly my point - only time will tell and it's no time for getting carried away on the back of a defeat and a draw and some singing. Warnock has never had nor will he ever have again a job as big and as demanding as LUFC. I desperately want him to succeed.

I have always quite liked NW and was very impressed with the performance yesterday however I'm not getting carried away because this team has shown several times they can play brilliantly one game and then not turn up the next.

Hopefully KB will give NW the backing and give him a really good chance to succeed, more than just hoping that his enthusiasm and motivating skills will be enough. It was clear for a long while that Bates had set SG up for a fall to deflect attention away from himself. I have no problem with Bates running a steady ship and keeping a tight budget but expectations have to match the outlay.

I don't know though why you (Leon) seem intent on making every post about how NW has done this or that which is so much better than SG. SG deserves our thanks and it is time to move on. I hoped SG would take us to the prem and now I hope NW will.

As for the defence being better we were all over the place for the goal and we also were later on when Lonerghan saved from Lambert (shortly before half time I think). We possibly looked better defensively as they had little to do but the defence is still very worrying.

Fisrt chance for snoddy - definately a handball...aidy white should have converted his chance at the far post...at the beginning of the second half, becchio would have kept that chance on target any other day...southamptons keeper had an absolutely brilliant game, its probably the best game of his carreer and he probably will never have one like that again. On any other day, Leeds would have won the game easily. Ive never seen Leeds (or any other team for that matter) play so well and lose. We totally destroyed the saints. Extremely unlucky. But hull are gonna get it on tuesday!!!! M.O.T

Agree Jon

We battered a team at the top of the league.

Cannot remember such a one-sided game, we were unlucky no matter what anyone says

A pulsating game which i enjoyed immensely, an equaliser would have been thoroughly deserved & the icing on the cake, unfortunately it wasn't to be, nevertheless a massive improvement on the dross we have been served up all season

Hopefully that will bring a few fans back

More confident about the Hull game than i was a month ago, i'll predict a draw at the KC stadium

Only worry is both Bromby & White limped off v the Saints & must be extremely doubtful for tomorrow's game

Twiggs already appears to have changed his deeply entrenched and thoroughly wrong opinions twice already this season in the light of evidence to the contrary. It would be a new world record if he were to do it for a third time.

I dislike our manager, never have and never will be a fan of his.

However I support the Club so I wish him well.

They scored from 3 mistakes (failure to stop cross, stop knock down and to even be in the same postcode as Lambert when he shot).

I felt we battered them tbh, if not for the 2 forced changes I suspect Paynter would have got 20mins or so at the end, he is in form so why not try it?

I fail to see why we have so much negativity, nor do I see how all the mystic meg types are so self assured (we would have lost 3 nill with SG in charge etc)

Fact is, NW so far has 1 pt from a possible 6, so we need to pick up points and quickly, I am however pleased at how we played if not the result against a very dull looking top of the league team.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

OK, my two-pennorth.

Firstly, we were a far better team this Saturday than the one that was humiliated by Southampton on the opening day of the season.

Secondly, O'Dea's defending for the goal was woeful - this was nothing to do with coaching, it's absolutely obvious (or should be to an international defender) that when you're up against the top scorer in the division you stick tight to him in the penalty area, not wander off for a cig.

Thirdly, Aidy White is not a right winger and never will be.

Fourth - effort was 100%, and on a different day (with a referee who can spot a blatant handball and without a keeper doing his best Jim Montgomerie impression) we would have won. But we didn't.

The one thing that really worries me is our crossing. We seem to have two options; the one we normally use for corners and free-kicks where we fail to clear the first defender or the high lob into the area with no pace on it which makes it impossible for the strikers to get anything onto the ball and is meat and drink for any competent central defender to clear or goalkeeper to catch.

Enjoyed the game though, lots of positives and as I said a couple of weeks back, the rest of this season is really the start of the pre-season for 2012-13.

Agreed, I think we need to stick somebody in central defence with experience, playing with 2 young CB's for me is suicudal and Tom Lees certainly looks the better of the 2, stick with him and use O'Brien alongside.
Guildford White wrote:Aidy White is not a right winger and never will be
Disagree, Aidy still hasn't found his best position, for me he's certainly not a fullback, his ages means that he has plenty of time to develop as a right winger and he's shown this season that when he gets regular first team football he improves at a decent rate, he just needs to be given a role and not have it changed every few games.
I may be wrong but did he not play RW a few times when he was on loan at Oldham?

"We dominated them, we were better than them"

"We dug in, defended well, the goalkeeper made a fantastic save in the second half"

Warnock and Adkins surely?

No, Redknapp and Fergie. Result 1 : 3 and scum go marching on. All over the country, each and every week, losing teams cry 'we woz robbed' but they seldom are. Winning teams [big teams - it's why they are big e.g. scum, scousers and so on] get the basics of defending and scoring right. Sometimes they play beautiful football, most weeks they just play winning football. Fortunately for Spurs Harry's up and away - 8 points from the last 21 since he announced to the world the title was possible. Critical doesn't even start to describe the next 2 games for LUFC. Win both and the dream is still alive - I haven't given up on the play offs and wont until it's mathematically impossible. Lose both though and . . . . . patience is not great at ER.

Exciting times as ever though.

Agree with your comments and I cannot figure out why he looks a better player for Ireland than Leeds. Is it to do with whom he plays alongside (St Ledger) or a manager with defensive instincts (Trap) :duno:
