My mates a town fan and text me saying,

'Sorry to tell you David Norris thinks he is a midfield general when in fact he's a headless chicken with an occasional eye for goal! He's not good enough passer to be a ball player, is not creative enough to make chances and is not big enough to boss a midfield! He'll run around a lot though! You've signed a dumb onion there dude!'

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere.
Jesus, here's hoping he's just a bitter tractor boy, pissed off cos Norris left them to go to Pompey!

As I said on the Snodgrass thread, Norwich buy Leeds and we buy Portsmouth.

That's where we are in the pecking order.

Midfield pairing of Austin Norris doesn't bode well, does it.

Think that remains to be seen. We certainly won't be pushed around in mf like in the past and hopefully teams will have to try another tactic than driving straight down the center of the park.

I trust Warnock, and I believe he has a better eye for a player than Larry did/has, but the team he has assembled still lacks that little bit of sparkle or class which will seperate us from a host of other clubs in the championship with similar ambitions. We're going to be hard to beat, but where's the creativity coming from? It's all well and good some of us (myself included) hoping JB comes back, or we buy Maynard/Cox/whomever, but who's going to supply them with the service they're going to need? :duno:

Transfer window not closed yet. Expect some real quality in sooner, rather than later.

Stay calm Nick, so far NW has done a pretty good job of assembling a squad with bits and pieces of cash to splash.

I'm not talking Ridsdale excess, but when the takeover is done he should have enough of a budget to bring in the major signings that will fit with his workmanlike squad.

And I have to say, even the free and discarded players he has brought in impress me far more then the Grayson equivalents.

I must agree with you on this GW. Of course, Simon didn't have an imploding Pompey to fill out the side.

Or have any idea how to manage a club as big as Leeds - let alone exploit the transfer window.

I'm not worried as such Martyn, and I agree that NW has shopped well with the little he has had at his disposal, but we're only 3 weeks away from the new season kicking off and it feels like this frigging T/O could drag on to the point where the cream has all been snapped up. Just hoping he's putting the Snoddy money to work already!

A British Leyland MF will certainly be pushed around constantly as it will most likely continually break down

Sadly, the takeover will take as long as it takes. If you look at my original comments in the TOMA thread I said due diligence would take a hell of a long time. This is caveat emptor - the new owners assume responsibility for any booby-trapped contracts that Bates has laid, and with his record in their place I'd be taking months rather than days to go through everything.

Buyer beware, like it Martyn; I work in procurement so I hear that all the time! I'd have a veritable mountain of fine-toothed combs to pick through Bates' web. Perhaps we have to temper expectations and hope we're solid enough to be in touch come January. Surely due dilligence will be finished by then :?:

We'll be able to buy another new team then....
