I was determined to create a Twitter account the other day, but I didn't get around to it. Have no idea how to use it.

I have a Facebook, but I log in maybe once every couple of days.

I don't - I did try a couple of times when I was managing a bar but I got so bored by the mindless drivel I stopped.
They're nothing more than online gossip columns full of trivia, which can come back to bite you in the arse if you're not judicious.

If there is anything important about LUFC it seems to get put up here anyhow, and 9/10 it is from a false account..

I don't because Twitter seems to be mainly for famous people/companies and if I don't even text regularly I see no point going on Facebook

When my site was up in the hits I was asked by a reader to open a twitter account so I gave it a shot.
I dont understand the mentality as in "you follow me and ill follow you" strangers???
For me using an online social media site is exactly what its all about, replying and getting input.
As soon as you start tapping out stuff to , well I'll be honest no one then whats the point?

I have had nothing but trouble with facebook, I trimmed my friends down and even found my self not adding family, I just came off there yesterday it was really annoying me. Fair play to those that enjoy it and use it, but for me again its more of a talk to your self place where people frantically like things, and others sit there waiting to be liked or commended on.
It was fun when it first came out and for a few years after that, but now all I was seeing was stuff that bored/annoyed me. No fun - so bye bye!

I don't get Twitter at all. It has no appeal for me.

I don't like the way Facebook is run but I do use it to keep in touch with friends & ex-colleagues from work.

I'm more in Meta's camp.... but I am capable of NOT using them while I'm in the company of others or at work.

I've been on 'pro facebook/twitter' rants on here before, I'd do it again but I don't want to bore you all again ! I'm sure you can find my opinions if you use the search function.

But in short, as with the rest of life, I think you get out of these things what you put in to them. Certainly with Twitter, unless you just want to use it as a news feed (which it is excellent for if you follow the right people), there is no point unless you are going to actively participate, you need to be following and replying to people in order to get anything from it.

If it wasn't for Facebook there is no way I would be in contact with a hell of a lot of people that I actually still want to be in contact with, yes you could argue that you will always stay in touch with people you really want to be, but sometimes people are just rubbish at keeping up that contact, FB helps out!

I am surprised by some of the stuff people put up, a lot of things which I'm pretty sure ought to be remaining private, and I hope that I'm not guilty of that. I don't update my FB status that frequently and I try only to put things up which I think other people will be interested in.

Thing with FB is there are actually a lot more controls over who can see what information than a lot of people realise. And these days it's even possible to be friends with people and not see their updates (so if they're one of the people putting up inane drivel, you don't have to see it, but you can still look them up and send them things if you want to).

Used correctly, brilliant tools, you just have to be careful with them.
