Alternatively, earlier managers may have had it right or even changed the pitch size regularly to mimic upcoming away pitches? Little fella for Watford did that before the play off final I recall and he passed our way. Probably just Warnock who seemed like he might still be using imperial measures to me. Wilko would not have missed the pitch size trick I expect. Was it bigger or smaller I wonder. If smaller it would explain the tiredness leading to late goals I guess.Drs.Dad wrote:
I read the matchday programme for the last home game of the season against Brighton, and Our Brian had an article in, over and above the managers page. He was on about changes he was making at the club, and one which smacked my between the eyes was that he was making the main training pitch the same size as Elland Road's pitch! I would have thought that he didn't need to make that change, it stands to reason that we should train on a pitch the same size as our players use on home match days. How come that hadn't been picked up before by any of the clods who have been managing us up until now?
Well spotted BMD.

Re: summer of 2013 - transfer rumour thread
Yeah remember reading an interview with a player who said Wilkinson would always have them changing the pitch to the exact size of the opposition pitch. Can't remember which player it was though.
As a Sunday league manager I always make sure we use our match balls for training if our next match is at home and cheap replica sh*t ones if we are going to be playing away as the other teams always seem to have cr*p balls. Some of the balls used are no better than beachballs.

Players out of contract in the championship this season. Accuracy unknown.
Some interesting ones available though if true!
Why is El Hadji Diouf on this list, he signed an 18 month contract only in December, didn't he?

I doubt El Hadj Diouff's in any way concerned about that in my humble opinion.

I thought this, hence me putting accuracy unknown. It was just the thought of players like Ince and Phillips being available that got me a little excited and wanted to share it regardless of accuracy. I think Ince would be beyond us but we could have a more realistic chance with Phillips.Drs.Dad wrote:

I don't think he'll be with us next season...one way or another and I see Pope has moved to dispel rumours he's already signed elsewhere...

If true, on the back of Colin out it would be like playing our joker, it would show that we see ourselves as contenders. Colin's last desperate throw of the dice when he realised he was out of his depth. No club worth its salt would employ EHD - Colin took us to hitherto unplumbed depths.faaip wrote:I don't think he'll be with us next season...one way or another and I see Pope has moved to dispel rumours he's already signed elsewhere...

I think that if you look closely, Bates and Harvey were in charge of player acquisition. Certainly Warnock must have recommended it, but the decision makers were Saint Ken and his dumb sidekick.white.riot wrote:

Glad we dis have Diouf this season, as he was the only one in the team certainly in the midfield area that could put their foot on the ball and show that bit of guile and cuteness required in this league..i would wager that we would have been in the bottom three without his contribution..just my humble factpinion.

In my humble opinion I agree with this 100%. we would be league 1 now if not for EHDmchldavies7 wrote:Glad we dis have Diouf this season, as he was the only one in the team certainly in the midfield area that could put their foot on the ball and show that bit of guile and cuteness required in this league..i would wager that we would have been in the bottom three without his contribution..just my humble factpinion.

You think Bates identified Diuof perhaps?Guildford White wrote:

You think Harvey said to Warnock, what about Diouf?
If Warnock is to be believed (high risk obviously), he bumped into Diouf by accident. They got talking and they let bygones be bygones (both men must have been equally desperate) and before you know it Diouf was playing on a pay as you go deal of some kind. Bates messed up big time appointing Warnock (although that was understandable given the clamour from fans to appoint the bloke) but Diouf is entirely down to Colin. That said, give the misguided adulation for Diouf, it's tempting to congratulate Bates - is that what you were doing, congratulating Bates for signing Diouf? That would be a sweet, if misguided moment.
We are better than Diouf. Simple as that. Infact Accrington Stanley are better than Diouf. Has any club which employs Diouf ever achieved owt? I doubt it.
Whatever happened to that Diuof or Snoddy thread. One has made a successful career in The Prem. we employ the other. Huddersfield, Watford. No Diouf. Probably just good luck I suppose.

Re: summer of 2013 - transfer rumour thread
Elhadj diouff is talented and probably a decent sort but question no. 1 will he be a great team player in and around Bmc D ?
no.2 can he just concentrate on getting around the 90 mins. , without reacting to any fans other than the ones who pay good money to watch him.? no.3 as he's only one player in a team will he get good enough and better players to join him?
I have i'm sure like many other leeds utd fans a mixed up good guy/ bad guy thing goin on diouffy.

If I missed it you need to make it better. Bates backs his managers as we know. Colin wants Diouf, We know he found him cos he told us he did. Bates/Harvey deliver. What's to miss. You probably rate Diuof which means Bates delivered and should be praised. I think he Is a problem and criticise Warnock for recruiting him and Bates for recruiting Warnock. Bates get's plenty right but not everything. Warnock gets most things (Diouf being just one example) wrong but not quite everything.Guildford White wrote:
