Politics is a reasonable metaphor. Like a party which will never be elected posters can offer to change the world in the conference hall (message board/square ball/lust tap room etc) safe in the knowledge that they will never be called upon to implement their zany schemes. The best recent example of this in real lufc life is Matteo. Went out of his way to play to the LUFC spend spend spend crowd until, well until GFH cleverly brought him on board where, presumably having realised just how hard it is to run a football club he left the arena. Thank God for Lorimer, a genuine legend. Prudence is truly the way. Anyone out of short pants knows this.

I don't think it's a question of transfer funds. I would say it is the fact we already have too many players in critical positions who will not take us forward. I would say its more about the weekly wages. Morison was on what,17k a week?. Whoever signed off on that deal is a fecking muppet.Twiggster wrote:Interview with Bryn Law on Sky today interview here
Anyone spot the paradox?
Nooruddin yesterday: "The manager is being backed in the transfer market."
McDermott today: "I have to sell to buy."
So take into account all the players we have on the books that you wouldn't consider playing in our first 11 and tell me how you, as a board member of a club, would pay these sometimes excessive wages, but then bring in another group of players to fill the same positions.
In the real world, would you hire someone who can do a better job at a position, yet still pay the other person to sit around and do nothing? Wouldn't think so.
I would be telling my manager the same thing. Clear out the crap and you will have your targets.

Don't buy a car if you can't afford the petrol to drive it - or if the previous owner says you can't because he used up all his credit paying for it before you bought it in his name - and then you have to sell the in car stereo and the already worn down tyres, to replace them with retreads just to keep it.Kyle_5351 wrote:

You wouldn't then buy another car, if you already had one, without selling it first because you couldn't afford the fuel in the first place. That is effectively what people are asking the club to do.Twiggster wrote:

Plus it's not a fact they can't afford the fuel (wages), as they clearly can, it's merely why would you buy fuel for a car that is just going to sit there, when you have bought a new car which does the same job (could do it better), yet you still need to put fuel in it as well.
Sell the old car, get a new one and pay the same money, yet it goes faster (I bought a red one).

Business is the analogy that springs to mind here: people that have never run one lecturing to others that have about a guy that screwed over so many people to make his money.
Un-fecking-believable.
You certainly don't keep useless/depreciating assets in any organisation. You get rid. Sometimes at a loss on the original outlay, but only if your finance guy (or whomever) was a dummy in the first place. The trick is to get it right more often than not from the outset (and not have a dummy - or crook - running your finance).
The fact that nobody posting on this or any forum is likely to ever end up running LUFC is the irony for me.

Let's all pool our resources and buy a share in the club. Come on we can do this. MOTGino 1959 wrote: The fact that nobody posting on this or any forum is likely to ever end up running LUFC is the irony for me.
