Well McDermott has a nice little conundrum to ponder on with his team selection v the Hoops on Saturday.

I reckon McD will select more or less the same team that started v the Tractor boys

Have to say i'm really excited with the kids such as Smith, Poleon, Wootton & Mowatt more so than some of the experienced players but I can't dismiss the efforts & contribution of the regular first eleven who have produced eight points from our first four games. All four deserve a place on the bench at the very least. I would definitely start Wootton ahead of Lees !

I feel B McD will be much more selective about playing the younger guys. Everything about him is about doing things right in both the short and long term and we shouldn't see the short termism NW example of selfishly playing Byram every match just because he was the best option at the potential cost of the lad's future.

This league takes a mix of skill and graft and in every game you need to earnt the right to play. DR's team knew how to win the battles so that they could win the wars.

I've been impressed with McD hole approach to Leeds united, the club, the fans and the players, as been superb. Is team selections and team formation, which all seem to be working well.
He got reading promoted, So lets hope it's lufc time.

I'd normally say experience would be key against QPR, but I can't help think starting someone like Poleon would be a good move as he'd easily outrun Hill etc. Tonge in ahead of Green; Tonge has some great passes that would find Poleon. Lees may have to take a bench...would hopefully encourage him to concentrate a bit better when he's on.

Hunt or Varney up front for their workrate; but I say sub on Smith at half time - it's good to have someone to convert the odd hoofball into something, and useful for corners and free kicks.

I have to say McD has got tactics spot on. I don't mind who he picks, as his picks are for a reason. I've noticed less people post out a starting XI than we did last year - genuinely thought most people's tactics on here were more solid than Warnocks...no offence, but I think McDermott just about beats us in the tactics game.

I am sure BMD will bring back likes of Varney and Murphy to start......probably Hunt too but I'd love to see us stick with the kid Mowatt and also Poleon. Dom would cause likes of Richard Dunne all kinds of issues with he''s pace. Wooton should start instead of Lee's as well but I think the gaffer will keep faith with Tom.

I think you're right. For the most part posting up a starting XI on our current form means posting up "same again please." For some reason this never happened under Warnock.

VIII of the starting XI pick themselves right now. The areas where I think Brian has food for thought are:

Centre back: Pearce been the stronger of our two regular centre backs thus far. A very strong debut from Wootton may see Brian put him in ahead of Lees.

Central midfield: Austin and Murphy are in. Green has been less convincing and Tonge has done well in all the games I've seen. Certainly made a difference coming on at half time against Wednesday.

Forwards: Poleon still strikes me as a late game player rather than a starter though his pace and trickery could be an asset against a slow QPR centre back pairing. Hunt's work rate is phenomenal but I don't think he's really contributed to a goal yet this season (please correct me if I'm wrong.) I felt the same about Varney until his smart finish last week and Varney does look a player who can thrive off knock downs and headers across the box (as can an advancing Murphy or McCormack.) Now with a goal to his name and several assists Matt Smith is making a serious play for a starting position in combination with Varney. I liked Smith from the start, due to a decent showing up against a physical and quality Nüremberg, and am liking him more and more. He seems to win headers that even with his height advantage he shouldn't be favourite for and seems to direct them well.

The team I'd like to see on Saturday:

Kenny

Peltier Wootton Pearce Warnock

Austin

Tonge. Murphy

McCormack

Smith. Varney

Bench: Ashdown, Lees, Green, Mowatt, Diouf, Poleon, Hunt.

I never thought I'd find myself dropping Lees instead of Pearce or anyone instead of Varney...

Green for all his effort is a bit crap, lees hoofs too much. Pace against dunne and hill will bring us 3 points. Keep it on the deck. Brown to come on and break bartons legs

That said, now is the best time to play Mowatt a bit more. McCormack and McDermott have both come out and said the lad is ready for first team action, and it's best to do it now while his confidence is high after Tuesday.

Nobody is suggesting he play every game, but he should definitely be getting game time while he's on a role.

Match ratings.

Paddy -1 sent off for an early head but in the tunnel. Shame.

Pelts. 10 crafted in to net and played out of his skin' the winning goal was amazing. Never seen a 90yd strike like that.

Pearce 6 was hopeless for most of the game. Nipping for a burger is just not on at this level.

Lees. Raving when the ball went out of play. Was totally pumped. 7

Warnock. Ran round the east stand slapping fans hands high fiving them, only to arrive late in the box and butt a gem in to the net.
Moonwalk celebration. Cool as feck.

Green. Worked hard. 8

Murphy. Vowing to only use his left foot for passing in the pre game build up was met with disbelief by the fanatics.
Proved them all wrong. Got an assist and did some good dancing with lees.

Austin. 5 smoking twiff during the game and looked disinterested. Not a good role model.

Ross. If you count hand stands and general foolery , along with iron brew swilling with Austin as good play then fair enough. I think he may have smoked some of that stuff.

Hunt. Put in a shift, and performed his role well, even if he looked isolated at times and showed disbelief at some of his team mates at times. Looked frustrated.

Barney. Taking pics on his smartphone and tweeting them during a game. Got a lot of likes on Facebook. Did some kick ups seen him play worse so did OK. 6.

Brian mc - got it spot on today, the players seemed oblivious To the job at hand, which is a good sign he can relax them before a game. Incredible win.

Found the ref guilty of being thoroughly incompetent.
It was hard to take stephen warnock seriously at times, very hard to believe he is a professional player during moments of the match.
Wish poleon was started and that we had seen mowatt again but cant fault the boss, he does the right things and im not so sure we deserved to lose which is a very, very good sign against the bookies faves for the league title.

Yes indeed but show,s how short in terms of that bit of class we still need.
I saw game on stream and of course we did play ok and sometimes looked i say only looked goal threatening,but we¬re coming up short which needs some wee piece of magic call it how you want it.
My obvious concern is of course wer`e agreed in defence and maybe if only against good or better teams ,, are QPR much better ? NO don`t think they are.
I would agree with more informed and better educated Leeds supporters than me we need whatever about more width we certainly need more PACE and probably this comes on the wing so what will be will be.
The big question is that in our Budget here`s hoping and finger`s and toes crossed.

I'm disappointed but by no means heartbroken.
We probably suffered from some nerves - it was a big match against top opposition.
We'll improve - I think we'll beat them at Loftus Road. Revenge, just like we did Watford last season.

Keep your chins and peckers up. :mrgreen:

By the way, now we'll see what they're made of, after this first defeat.
I'm sure they'll be fine - BMcD will pick them up.

Finding it difficult to be too disappointed with that, yeah, we lost, but by the tiniest of margins, a draw would probably have been a fair result, neither side exactly shone.
