Who put through that delightful ball for the third goal? Was it Doukara or Austin? The feed I saw wasn't the greatest quality...

Very impressed with Doukara's ball for that goal, as well as several others in the match. Silvestri aside, he has been the pick of the summer signings so far.

It wasn't just Hock, a novice who was brought in for a purpose whilst Cellino built a new team under difficult circumstances as the club was in complete disarray. The level of negativity & criticism on LUFC websites & amongst a select band of fans I travel with was way over the top. Even though I had first-hand glimpse of our new signings & the likes of Cook who I enthused about the first time I clapped eyes on this kid as I did with Byram & Mowatt previously I could see a new dawning & a massive improvement on the last two seasons but still the negativism prevailed as some of our fans mourned the loss of McDermott, McCormack & Smith & berated Hock & the new signings before they had even kicked a ball, some of our newbies were derided after one or two games which was absolutely ludicrous as players need time & patience to settle into their team/club & in many cases a new lifestyletheleedsmango wrote:
Us knockers knew Hockaday wasn't the right man for the job, proven right by Redfearn who is the best thing we've had in years, yet probably has a CV less impressive than Hocks. But listen, if your happy thinking you were proven right, I'm happy that Leeds won, everybody's happy!!
Great 2nd half display. Think Doukara and Silvestri are going to turn out to be stunning signings! Cook is going to be key for us and glad Redders started Austin and Doukara. Shrewd tactician too... Not many times have we came from behind on our travels.
I also know MOT members who temporary stopped posting on here as they were so p*ssed off with all the negativity/moaning on here

Good god man, you really don't get it do you?
Hockaday was NOT brought in for a purpose, he was NOT a crucial component of a master plan, he was hired because Cellino has proven over many many years that he cannot pick a good head coach. As for being a novice, he is 56.
There was a good reason he was unemployed, but Cellino thought he knew better than every other chairman / owner. That is what egotists do.

Of course I get it Cellino required a yes man who had little say on new signings. His main job was to get the squad fit for a long rigorous season which he appears to have done looking how we are finishing games now. Hock was always a short term appointment because of his lack of experience managing a club at this level. His sacking was inevitatable from the moment he walked through the ER doors.Guildford White wrote:Good god man, you really don't get it do you?

Next managerial appointment is key & will tell the whole story !

So the messiah's great plan was to bring in someone who would waste the first half dozen games of the season and make sure we started with a handicap. Brilliant.1964white wrote:

If you want to work on fitness, you bring in a fitness coach - you do not make him head coach.

Agree that I doubt Hock was seen as a long term solution, more of a fitness coach for the early part of the season. In fairness to him, it was always a big step up and he didn't get a chance to manage the full squad, but he needed to do better with the decent resources he had.1964white wrote:Of course I get it Cellino required a yes man who had little say on new signings. I think Ajose was probably a signing based on his knowledge, and probably the one signing of the Summer we won't see much of this season...
Don't have the internet at the moment, so had to make do with twitter commentary on my phone last night, but seeing those goals gives me a big swell of optimism. The ball through to Doukara from Bianchi(?) was inch perfect, and the finish was pretty nice too. Similarly with Doukara's ball for Antenucci, who kept a cool head where some of our previous strikers would probably have fluffed it. Didn't look like Bellusci was expecting to score with that freekick, but what a goal it was!
Nice to see a coach not afraid to make tactical changes during a game, especially not like-for like changes (Byram for Sharp, for example). What happened there? Cooper for Warnock, Byram for Sharp, so did we go 5 at the back? Did Byram go to RB and Berardi to LB, or did Byram play higher up the pitch.
Good to hear Silvestri getting rave reviews again - reassuring to know we have a quality young keeper for the first time in eons!

We lost two difficult games at Millwall & Watford, Brighton was our other defeat which prove to be the demise of Hock so we really only wasted three championship game in theory, two of those fixtures we lost last season. Clean sheets v Middlesbro & Bolton & conceding 2 goals combined v Brum & Bournemouth shows our defensive duties are improving as i expected once our defence consisted of three Italian defenders

Doukara has been an unfortunate absentee as everything clicked into place at Dean Court. We played the Cherries at the own game (no hoof) & stuffed them
OK, I assumed it was the other 2 defeats that followed Brighton that led to his sacking, and particularly the loss to Bradford.

Re: Bournemouth v Leeds - Team/Reports/Ratings
Silvestri crucial saves first half, best keeper we've had in years - 9
Berardi another solid display, better defender than Byram - 8
Pearce usual JP stuff - 7
Bellusci won everything in the air, stunning free-kick you'd expect from an Italian player - 9
Warnock another swashbuckling performance from SW - 8
Bianchi neat & tidy, sublime pass for Doukara's goal
Cook this kid is something else, covers so much ground - 9
Austin sloppy passing in first half, improved in the second period - 7
Doukara oh how we have missed him, great finish for his goal - 9
Sharp worked his socks off - 7
Antenucci given us something different upfront with his close control, movement & pace, clinical finish - 9
Subs : Byram & Cooper both looked comfortable coming on for tired legs easing us to a well deserved victory
ANTENUCCI just my MOTM

In the traditional sense of providing training rather than tactics? Or as head honcho?faaip wrote:I'd welcome Hockaday back as a coach any day...
I don't think he's a bad fitness coach, seems to have got the team to better levels than our previous few regimes have, but I don't think he offered anything tactically. The sort of change in playing style we've seen between Hock and Redders clearly doesn't just happen overnight, so I reckon he probably laid some solid groundwork for that, which Redfern is reaping the benefits of.
The team has really good balance now, which is in part thanks to the new signings, but also the way we've now integrated pre-Cellino signings into the team and are getting much more out of them (i.e. Austin, Warnock etc.).

a coach, not head coach...Redfearn has basically continued the thought process with surprisingly a better understanding of balance in team selection and tactical nous...but the coaching to get us here was all Hockaday. I don't think Hockaday had Antenucci ready to go and Doukara injured...
Again Hockaday wasn't the guy to take us forward but he wasn't as bad as some would have us believe...

Well just arose after a long journey home after a great win but once again the first half display was poor IF Bournemouth could have finished we would have been out of the game by the interval but they didn't and we went on to collect all the points. Our keeper kept us in the game with some good saves but the defence were at times totally at sea from crosses the midfield was overrun completely and gave the ball away plenty of times with poor passing and not closing men down. Then as Saturday we saw a different performance the only thing is against better teams we are not going to able to do this. But in the end its 3pts.

He played his team ignoring most of the new signings v Bradford & ultimately paid the inevitable consequences. Not too bothered about losing the cup game, probably a blessing in disguise in more ways than oneGuildford White wrote:
