I not sure what to think, a bit non-plus tbh. Difficult to make any judgement on TC as I know nothing about him

Hopefully he'll be the best thing since slice bread. We need to trust Radz's decision in appointing Christiansen & get behind the new manager & the team

Been an age since I've posted on here but been following recently with intrigue.

Similarly this is an intriguing appointment. Raises more questions than answers. Personally I never thought we had a chance of bringing in one of the big "names" given our change in set up.

It'll be interesting to hear what he has to say on Monday regarding his philosophy and style. I'm just glad we've got someone in and we can now start the groundwork for next season.

Hopefully Pep stays now and gives us a little piece of continuity, Rad now has to back His choice and start getting the players in, no matter how good a manager is he'd be hard pressed to get us in the top half of the table with the squad we have left. 4 new first team players at least plus cover at CB and Forward.On last seasons form this is what we have left that is good enough imo

The comparison with Milanic is perhaps a relevant one but it is hard to judge Milanic given he was sacked after just 6 matches and with him coming in mid-season had no time to work with the players and assess whether they could fit into his formation/tactics. Likely Milanic had not even heard of any of the Leeds players prior to taking over let alone seeing them play. Given time and a chance to bring in some players to fit his system and MIlanic could have been a success.

Agreed. Milanic (as well as Christiansen) was a completely different kettle of fish to Hockaday. Hock should never have been employed in the first place. Darko, however, should have been afforded more time to work with the squad and try to establish his tactics and formations. Seemed mental to buy him out of his contract at Sturm Graz, get him all the way over to England and bin him after 6 games.

All four bench players for me on last year's evidence, we need to strengthen the first 11 which proved not to be good enough last season.

For all those that seem disappointed I would ask why and who they thought we were going to get as most fans seemed to not want the likes of Karanka, Pardew etc - all of which would have been 'cheap' options given they are out of work. AR has had 3 weeks of evaluating applicants and whilst we are not the big attraction we used to be I bet there were a lot of people interested in taking the job and a lot of options that would have been 'safer' options in terms of appeasing fans. As it is after 3 weeks AR has decided TC is his choice and it is easy to see why given the success he has had in his short managerial career. He took an unfashionable team to 2nd in the league twice and then went to the team that had won the title both those years and duly won the title - yes winning the title was probably the minimum requirement there but he still did it. Every manager has to start somewhere and for all TC went to work in the Cyprus league it is probably only the equivalent of a german manager coming over to England and cutting his managerial teeth at a small town in the championship.

I thought he was only 44 so club contacts might be a bit more recent from playing / early coaching days?

I did say nearly 30 years , he was at Barca in '91 so its 26 yrs , the rest probably in the region of 20 or so , but that's a lot of personnel change at any club in that time, I doubt the more recent are of much use to Leeds , having said that we'll just have to see how he does. I suppose people move on and may have progressed and he may still have those contacts elsewhere .

Getting a bit confused now by all the comments, what will you all be judging him on, the man has been brought in as "COACH" will he be judged on playing style or the quality of players brought in that he had no say on.

Fully agree and certainly you can't knock TC on what he has done so far in his short managerial career. He has come 2nd,2nd,1st and whilst the Cypriot League may not be the strongest it would be hard to do much better than that - contrast to Wagner and Stam who had no actual managerial experience.

tbf it seems to be a two team league...APOL win it AEL finish second. It would probably work out no matter who the manager. I think the best we can say is he didn't screw it up. Looks like another change of direction and they usually take 2-5 years to work out.

He also dissected a number of United’s fixtures under Monk and outlined the changes he planned to make to the club’s style of play

Wikipedia likes to put the Spanish maternal and paternal names in with Spaniards. Christiansen is Spanish on the maternal side, and Danish on the paternal side. Therefore Thomas is his Christian name, Christiansen is his father's surname, and Tarin is his mother's maiden name. Just call him TC.
