I refer to my last but one sentence. This gung ho attitude and having no faith in the cb sitting on the bench has cost Leeds at least 1 point today possibly 3. Who in their right mind doesn't pack out the defence and midfield after going 2-1 up with 10 men . We would probably have scored another on the break even.

I do feel Bielsa's stubbornness has cost us the last two games. No changes despite the packed schedule. The defence has been poor since Douglas and Ayling came back, yet they still start. Klich has been poor for ages, still starts every game. Phillips hasn't worked at CB, yet we still stick with it. Things should be back to normal next game with Coops back, but Forshaw must be dropped but won't. We have to rest certain players in the cup. Couldn't give a fook if we go out tbh.

He is also the reason why points were dropped today. They got themselves right back into it (thanks to the masterstroke substitution ) but then went and commited suicide . A manager of his pedigree should not be making amateur mistakes, maybe it's the reason he's never won anything . I really do hope that he can achieve promotion with Leeds but with decisions like he's made lately I suspect that his CV will remain the same unfortunately .becchio bear wrote: Your last but one sentence was "It matters not one jott that they're top at the moment." absolutely f**king gutted losing that. we fought our way back level then incredibly got ourselves in front only to throw it f**king away.
as someone said school boy and kamikaze stuff. easily said in hindsight but we should have been far more professional and seen it out and closed the shop for at least for a draw. very disappointed in mb.
silly errors from forshaw , bpf and absolute stupidity from phillips cost us against a poor forest team who was there for the beating .
for me ayling shouldn't be starting and klich looks a shadow of himself of late.
imo its crucial for us to beat qpr now . just to get the winning mentality and confidence back if not for anything else . a few fresh quality faces wouldn't go a miss neither.

OK so MB plus column - hundreds of things
MB minus column - a couple of starting errors and not bringing on a defender when one up.
That about sum it up?

Re: Nottingham Forest v Leeds Utd Match Thread
BPF-4. . Credit him for the save from Joe Lolley 1st half. But his kicking is poor and his indecision cost us 1 goal maybe 2, he half came then dithered for the Murphy header and i think he could have got to Forshaws poor pass if he was more on his toes like Pantilimon was for Roofe twice, certainly lost the confidence of Jansson.
Ayling-3 Just poor, always willing but passing in the final 3rd was woeful and his poor control nearly got Forest 1v1, i dont think he is fit.
Jansson-6. . Real battle with Murphy but did struggle imo, best of the back line but lost Murphy for there 3rd, however under the circumstances did ok.
Douglas 4- Is looking more and more like a poor Ian Harte, defensively suspect and his set pieces were a let down also.
Phillips-0. . Deserves nothing, no excuse for lunging in and it isnt the 1st time.
Forshaw 1- Slows us down so much, 1 moment Harrison in space, Forshaw delayed and delayed then overhit the pass, poor passing cost us 1 goal and but for BPF would have been 2.
Klich 5. . Started poorly, tried to get involved and got an assist but isnt anywhere near as effective as he was early this season.
Harrison-6. .Was bright and tried to make things happen, drove at the fb well but all to often the final ball was poor.
Alioski-8. .Thought he did well again, decent header 1st half, another header that Roofe could have been braver with, worked hard, got his goal, a pest on the left where he doesnt really want to play and it was his cross that Robinson hit the post with.
Hernandez- 6 . Again sloppy passes at times but involved in both our goals, not at his best but his intelligence was evident again.
Roofe-5. Involved in the link play for Clarkes goal, movement good, finishing poor. Felt he could have been braver for the Ali flick, 3 other great chances, must do better in front of goal.
Clarke- 8. A threat, a goalscorer, a livewire, he has to start soon its getting ridiculous that he doesnt, had me out of my seat with that curling left footed effort, 2 footed winger, so very rare.
Bielsa-4. . He has to take responsibility imo, Halme should have started, absolutely definitely should have come on when it went 2-1. I admire his gung ho attitude but sometimes you have to be sensible and not stubborn, i worry about our recruitment to because of the stubborn streak, it isnt a failing or disloyal to admit you need reinforcements.
Didnt play that bad which is even more frustrating. Individuals let us down today but thats not the first time we have said that, we cant keep being so careless with the final pass or finish because other teams arent being, Forest scored 4 from 6 on target we scored 2 from 7
Bielsa needs to admit we need 3 or 4 quality players, he cant keep saying we have players coming back because they may not come back, what happens if they get reinjured?
Forest defended well and took there chances, fair play to them.
Maybe Robinson should have walked, but thats no excuse for what BPF, Forshaw, Phillips did, its no excuse for MB being to stubborn to make us more solid at 2-1 and its no excuse for Roofe not finishing chances.
We go again vs Derby after the cup, must improve though because that gap to the chasing pack os getting narrower by the game, was 10 points to 4th it's now 5.

I do think we'll be back to business next time out. Coops and Bamford will be back, hopefully a new GK and another loan or two, plus key players get a break.
I doubt this will happen, but I'd like to see this for FA Cup:
-----------------------Huffer---------------------
Douglas-------Ayling-----Halme-----Shackleton
------------------Stevens-----------------------
Harrison--------Baker-------------Clarke
--------------Bamford----Kun-------------------
Get Ayling and Douglas more game time, Clarke first start, rest for some key players.

We look off, not by a lot, just think the injuries have caught up, still look a good side.
Fresh blood is needed, can’t see why baker is still here, clearly not rated.
As has been said, a young side should play QPR, the rest is more important than a cup run.

Re: Nottingham Forest v Leeds Utd Match Thread
I can fully see where MB is coming from in keeping the team as it was when we were 2-1 up as to bring on a defender at that point would have seen us lose the momentum we had - we were the better team. However the dynamic of the match changed as Forest could no longer be cautious, which they were at 1-0 and even at 1-1, but they had to go for it - even then it wasn't like Forest tore us apart. Even the 4th goal which was scored from open play saw Forshaw with a chance to hold up their scorer but instead sold himself and gave their lad the time and space to score.
I do think a lot of it also stemmed from the fact we went in front too early in the half, I made the same point about the Millwall game last season when we came from 2-0 down, with 10 men, to lead 3-2 midway through the half and we then went on to lose 4-3. The way we celebrated going 2-1 up with players running into the crowd made me worried as you could tell that they thought at that moment that they had won the match, similar also to how Blackburn thought they had won the match when going 2-1 up against us only to switch off and lose. We had been playing brilliantly with 10 men but at getting 2-1 up the 'hard work was done' and the intensity dropped. I feel bringing on a defender at that point wouldn't have made much difference as it would also have been inviting Forest to attack us. How many times in the past have managers been criticised for being too defensive when bringing a defender on for a striker when a goal up as the opposition have then been able to attack us at will for the remainder of the match?
Like Faiip I have sympathy for Phillips. It was a genuine attempt to win the ball, unlike their player who only got yellow carded for a professional foul, and was milliseconds late. Those sort of tackles always look a lot worse in slow motion. Like others have pointed out he shouldn't have been drawn into that position on the pitch to make the tackle as it was where the defensive midfielder should have been, to say Forshaw was abysmal today would be a huge understatement. Sadly the red card will stand and Phillips will likely get a 3 match ban or more meaning Forshaw will play but at least it should mean we have a centreback playing in defence, hopefully Cooper will be fit.
It is imperative we get a starting keeper. BPF did make a good save today but he looks short on confidence and his decision making is being hindered by him probably being nervous about making a mistake. He does have decent qualities but for the sake of his career he needs to be rested before his confidence is totally destroyed.

Re: Nottingham Forest v Leeds Utd Match Thread
2 big plusses today for me.
1) Harrison looked a lot sharper and seemed to have his confidence back and was taking players on. This time was unlucky to be subbed at half time. If he can build on that performance then he could be a useful player for the rest of the season.
2) The team didn't look tired when looking the better side whilst playing with 10 men. The talk of fatigue etc should at least bot need to be a concern yet.

I just think we scored too early. Forest couldn't time waste and park the bus once we'd gone in front and the 'injuries' miraculously stopped once we'd gone in front. We just played it into their hands. That said, all 4 were completely avoidable.

Whether Philips should have been there or not.
He was there, he miscontrolled the ball, as soon as you do that you have to win the ball or you walk.
He didnt, he dived in and got the man, out of control.
He walked, dont think can have any complaints within the letter of the law.

I really can't believe what Bielsa has done with this squad and I am grateful for the ride he has given us, BUT being a pessimistic Leeds fan (for 50 years) I have this big worry in my gut that he has squeezed as much out of them as even he can, especially given the injuries we have had to endure. If we manage to sign the 2 or 3 quality players that we need then we could stay top 6, if not.......?

Just this nagging feeling that while MB has had the squad playing out of its skin all season, we are over achieving talentwise.
So worried that eventually that will catch us up.
Great TEAM.
Quite a few individual deficiencies.

Yep. When you have a quality manager, the good players will step up and the ones who aren't good enough will obviously stand out.
Ayling, Forshaw, Harrison, BPF, Douglas are not good enough for a Bielsa team.
