The result was more important than the performance today Moth.

At least there were some top performers today

Don't like pragmatism, can we go back to 4-3 and 5-2 every week?

We do need another cb imo i dont think Coops can remain 1st choice past this season.

Feel sorry for White but we have moved on.

Ideally we need a cb who can play dm?
Hopefully Llorente can get fit and stay injury free, as Rob Price's record hasn't been so great with the injury prone i.e. Douglas, Roberts, Cooper, and all that gang.

Yeah, another CB in summer would be awesome and maybe essential as we're looking at GB and LC as our back-ups, maybe Struijk will be good at CB if he gets matches?

White did well for us last season, we rightly told BHA to do one with their stupid price for him. He has done himself no favours by signing a long-term deal with them lot. When they go down he'll be off to a mid-table PL side like WH, CP, maybe even Wolves. I believe we can do a lot better than him, so would wait til summer to get another CB, and yeah a CB/DM would be optimal for us and MB.

We've halted their little run & pulled seven points clear of Dyche's ugly bruisers

Dunno.
Klich is not a DM ..we saw that today

Yep. I'd rather have won that 1-0 than 3-2 or 4-3. Important to keep a clean sheet after all the goals we've conceded recently.

I'm not sure he was greedy.

He was one of the best players in a side that for the most part pissed the Championship last season, and was probably on League One wages.

Brighton were able to demand silly money for him and when it didn't come in... he probably wanted a salary close to what he was worth.

Leeds fans, Dyche & the media bigging up Burnley's performance

What clear cut chances did they create?
How many saves did Meslier have to make?
How many headers did Wood & Co win from countless corners today?
How long have Burnley been in the prem?

Bielsa rates him, and saw him as DM backup in Kalvin’s absence - don’t be surprised if we go back in for him.

Exactly. I think they've just looked at the stats and not watched the game. Hinchcliffe said in commentary they didn't create anything clear cut.

I'd agree. But I'd say he's a better DM than he is trying to play a combination of the 4 & 8 positions...

I'd stop playing Alioski as a defender, he gives 100% but in that role he's a liability. In part because he isn't a defender, and also because he likes to push on, as a winger would do.

If Bielsa wants to play Alioski and Harrison on the left I'd swap them around. As stupid as that sounds.

faaip wrote: Sun Dec 27, 2020 1:58 pm The discounted goal was one of those that could have gone either way, striker backing in more often than not will concede the FK..We set up a little more defensively which creates too much of a gap between defence and offence and we we're very poor bringing the ball out. That was down to the new defence for the 6th time this season, we lose that almost psychic link we normally have.

Ayling, Philips, Struijk started central defence, Klich played deeper which is not his game, he looked a touch lost...Dallas is not as attacking a wing back plus he doesn't fill the midfield hole like Luke does, Alio stays wide, So the centre mid was vacant for the most part. That allows them on to us.
Goalies always draw a foul with any contact from the attackers nowadays, so I'd have been surprised if a FK wasn't awarded, they are well protected.

Brilliant result considering so many of our players were playing out of position today

I think Harrison could be a good LWB, but he's not a winger imo.

I'd go back in for him, if the price was right.

Realistically the squad will be altered again in the summer, some lads like Cooper, Alioski & Roberts aren't going to make top half PL players. That'll free up some cash and wages to make a signing like Ben White.

Others like Costa might find that their stay at the club is at an end.

Fully agree.

Think JH would be a decent full back, it worked for Dallas (who used to be a winger with a poor end product).

You cant be a 1 in 5 winger at Premier league level if you want to progress imo.

Alioski is more inclined to run at players, which I'd like.

And he can't defend anyway so putting Harrison at the back wouldn't cost us anything.

Hopefully he can but the warning signs were there when we signed him, just a google shows he has struggled with injuries last few years and they are generally muscle injuries apparently.

Just think some players cant take BielsaBall and the training.

Yeah i agree i think another cb is essential in the summer, great servants Berardi and Coops (although both divide opinion) but far to slow for the Prem long term imo. Koch and new guy with Llorente and Cooper as backup would be my choice.

Maybe retrain Struijk as a dm only?

Agree on last paragraph mate.
