Regarding Harrison at LB, he is probably the best we have at taking down and controlling long balls. So many chances have been created from the quick transition that gives us.

What makes people think he would be good enough in defence to sacrifice his forward wide play?

He looks more ponderous, lacking in confidence etc than he did before.

Being run so ragged that he needed to be hooked after 20 minutes can't have done him any good.

Pascal won a lot of headers today, his distribution on the ground is not as good as Ben White.

Imo he reminds me of Dallas, when we first got Dallas everyone admired his energy and defensive contributions but just wished he had a better end product.

We have been saying the same about JH for 3 years. Occasionally he does brilliant things but its rare and in a less attacking side he would struggle even more (say we buy him and Bielsa leaves and we get a less attacking coach for example).

He may improve of course but i think he would suit a modern day left back?

May even take the pressure of him, Dallas seems to shoot better now than he did as a winger, the pressure to score goals and create being taken off may help JH?

His defending is ok anyway, with some coaching he could improve that and his energy and work rate suits a modern day fb and he would have more time to measure crosses to players infront of him rather than byline crosses like he struggles with.

I agree that Harrison would probably make a decent left back. I saw him play there in his one U23 game this year which makes it clear that Bielsa sees him as an option. But I think for now, it's only as an emergency back up. What makes everyone think he shouldn't be on the wing? His dribbling and ball control are top class. And while his end product gets knocked a lot, he's created more chances for us than anyone else.

I was reading through those Strujik is slow posts. His defensive work was excellent today and when he's played in midfield he does have some really good passes in him. I see what people are saying about his deliberation on the ball. But I think that's just down to confidence and experience. I think he's fine.

Should have been 3-0 up at HT, our profligacy gave Burnley hope they were still in the game. They huffed and puffed second half, but was Meslier really tested? Ugly win, but I'll take that all day long given the makeshift defence (again). Wasn't pretty, lacked fluidity but it's another 3 points against a team in our peer group. Half way to safety in 15 games, there aren't many of us who wouldn't have taken that when the season started.

Thought Kalvin was excellent, Ayling and Struijk both solid today (not sure why the young lad is taking grief when he has been thrown in again with little game time) and Meslier wasn't always totally convincing but dealt with everything that came his way. Klich needs a rest, don't think there's anything left in the tank. We still have a propensity to give away needless free-kicks in dangerous positions, which is just plain stupid given how ropey we are at defending them. Hopefully the clean sheet will give the team a boost after taking so much flak for the scum result. ALAW

Pascal did what he's supposed to, win headers and bring some height up against their giants. He will improve with more game time. He's still only 21 and not had much first team football.

Nice that Bielsa had the luxury of resting 3 of our best attacking players today - Raphinha, Rodrigo, and Klich

Kind of like in the ManU game when he subbed Klich and Phillips at half time to stop them getting a 5th yellow card

Struijk was solid today. He didn't contribute much (barely had any touches), but he didn't make any mistakes, either and was solid along the back. Just what we needed from him.

If he gets a run of games with one partner he'll come to understand what's needed to play the Bielsa system...He is a good passer of the ball and once he becomes familiar with the pass and move we play he'll be good. Very high ceiling for me...Quick enough.
